You accuse me of being "abusive" by saying uw reps are prepared to stoop to any level to get business.
I illustrate an example of the worst abuse of a friendship which you are all encouraged to do, and you persist with the abusive accusation!
I gave you the solution if you interpret this as being abusive - just ignore my posts! Expressing increduility that I am "permitted" to post here rather takes the biscuit!

You appear to have Bee in your Bonnet about Utility Warehouse. You moan about people breaching the site rules yet you break them yourself. The original post also lays down some guidelines which you dont adhere to.0 -
If you mean the one below with Utility Warehouse, he's seriously thinking about it.
Yorkshire Region.
Gas 15000 kwhs
Leccy 4800 kwhs
Up to 24mb BB (my exchange is fully capable of exploiting this, btw)
40gb monthly download allowance
Free modem (yes, they CAN have it back should I ever leave!)
Phone Line Rental
24/7 calls to 01,02,03 AND 08545/0870 numbers
10 international destinations included in the inclusive calling package.
Silver club membership
£10,000 accidental death insurance (I don't know any Russian KGB people and don't enjoy sushi so that's one worry out of the way)
FREE calls to CS/BB support
No minimum term contract on any service (subject to £50 exit fee if leave the phone/BB package within 12 months. Your beloved BT would charge how much if you left after 12 months? Almost £200 smackeroos! Nothing with UW).
Chance to refer like-minded friends (hell, even sworn enemies AFAICT) to receive %tage discounts off our bill (on-going as well!). Maximum of £250 in any month and no reduction on club fees, phone line installations etc.
Free membership of Prospero Magazine and their exclusive discount offers (who knows? I'll have a butchers for nowt).
Cashback card that can mean sizeable discounts off the bill by shopping at designated High Street outlets, the 'biggie' obviously being Sainsburys for groceries, electrical items, heck even mobile top-ups and gift vouchers for other retailers if what has been posted on here continues ).
12x paper monthly bills fully itemised detailing all the services I take.
One monthly DD for the lot.
Anything missed/unintentionally embellished etc?
Total annual bill: £1387.00
Monthly DD: £115.58
THESE FIGURES INCLUDE NO DISCOUNT FOR USING THE CASHBACK CARD. THANK YOU.

What do you lose from UW if you change one utility?
For example, you are a high electricity user - what if you switched to the cheapest (un-locked in) tariff for electricity but kept the rest - what would that do to the final (pre cashback) figure.0 -

Good question but it would immediately lose me my inclusive daytime free 0845/0870/Intnl calls as to qualify for 24/7 calls you need to take 4 services and that would mean I only took 3. And I make quite a lot of calls during the day, SJ. At the moment I try and use saynoto0870 as much as possible but it can be time-consuming and it would be nice to just make that 0845/0870 call without having to b*gger about with that site. I think of all the suggestions (actually, there haven't been that many) it's the one that probably deserves the most amount of thought....

Hi Carmine
Do you, or anyone in the household, use PAYG mobile or is a lowish user of a mobile. If so, you could substitute the leccy with a potentially cheaper mobile package to get back to 4 services.
Just a thought

That could work, although it should be noted that PAYG mobiles only count towards the free calls in months where there has been £10 or more topped up (if there are multiple UW PAYG phones in your household, then the total of their top ups is used). On that basis, it may work out cheaper to use one of the contract phones (if you have a compatible/unlocked phone then for 'sim only' the monthly fee is reduced by £5/£6 and there is no minimum contract term).
Alternatively, you may have use for the internet phone (£50 one off fee, £2 or £4 per month depending on whether you take 1 or 2 lines, and you would need an additional phone to make use of it).
Obviously I can't recomend any of the above without much more knowledge on how useful you would (or wouldn't) find them, or how much you stand to save by upgrading from evening&weekend to 24/7 free calls.

Hi Mike, we all have contract mobiles so that's a bit of a non-starter. The wife and me don't use them much but our kids often use our allowance up ringing their mate's mobiles when they have run out so there's normally very little left to make landline calls. As I see it the very cheapest online leccy tariff would be £82/year cheaper (paper billing approx £64). Less than £7 a month and I would very probably spend that on calls during the day if I didn't have the full 24/7 calls deal. I've just seen the P.O Phone increases from 1/6/09 and posted a similar question in that thread; how much would a daytime chargeable call to my mate across the city cost if, for instance, I reached his 1571 service? I know UW charge 2.45p per minute peak rate but how much would the connection cost be? 8p? So 10.45p for a call like that? It would soon add up.
PS One thing all this has made me realise. When (if!) the kids ever fly the nest we are going to have so much spare cash we won't know what to do with it, lol...Call me Carmine....
