Carmine Im only looking for a new energy supplier, UW are very expensive. You can keep spamming this thread with your figures, it doesn't change the fact that UW are very expensive. Do you agree?

Who do you use for your phone line/BB/call needs, jimexbox? ;) And how much do you pay?

I said:- "So, if I ask a friend to listen to my Utility Warehouse pitch about saving them money, they listen and decide they want what is on offer and become a customer who pays less for his/her utilities than they used to, this is your cynical and bad thing?"

    Then you replied:-

What's wrong with simply telling your friend you want to tell him about the uw club?
Surely you can see that is exactly what I wrote?

I thought we had established that your shopping habits show that Utility Warehouse would not suit you?

    Sounds a great deal.

But why is it advertised as costing at least £19.99/month (plus the minimum £1.73/month club fee) on the uw website?

Or are you misleading us over this too?

Yes it is a great deal, no I'm not misleading anyone over this. My parents choose to shop at sainsburys (and have done since long before we'd even heard of UW). They also make occasional purchases at argos, boots, homebase, mothercare and (rarely) halfords. Along with some other retailers not included in the cashback card scheme.

"overall cost of about £6per month on average."

It should be clear that by 'overall' I mean it includes the membership fee and any discounts they get via the cashback card (minus associated costs).

Obviously the discout varies month by month based on their spend, hence 'about' (or approximately, if you prefer). And 'on average' ie sometimes more, sometimes less. I think I've actually approximated their spend too high - at least one month already they were paid by UW, rather that the other way around :)

    so no. nothing misleading there.

And I'm betting Carmine did indead know the answer, as did you. :)

I also notice a return to selective quoting. Should I assume you accept and agree with the rest of that post, or would you like another go at actually addressing the point rather than nit picking?
No, I accuse you of being abusive by falsely (and repeatedly) accusing me of 'cynically' and 'intentionally' posting misleading information.

by your reckoning, my friend 'abused' our friendship when he introduced me to UW. As it happens I am saving a considerable amount of money with UW so you would be wrong. I imagine my friend would feel insulted by your claim, if he were aware of it.

by your reckoning I have 'abused' my relationship with my parents by telling them about UW. They are currenlty getting their phone (line & calls) and broadband internet through UW at an overall cost of about £6per month on average. Do you think they feel 'abused' by this.

The problem we have here is that you seem to think that by paying £200 and signing a piece of paper, we suddenly become evil incarnate, willing to sucker all of our friends and family for a few measly pounds commission each month. I find this attitude quite abusive also. The reality for most of us is this: we like the UW package, we tend to think other people may also like the package and, as in my examples above, we could well be doing them a major favour by telling them about it.

that's really all there is to it.

    You writing riddles now?

The context as you know was the uw way of making use of your friends in the training video:
Here's another video that demonstrates Group Director, Shannon Griffin booking a 'practice appointment', no doubt with a view to signing up a multi-service customer for at least four services, because that's what the top distributors do.

Does Quentin adopt a different persona for each thread on here he inhabits?? Like I said before, even if UW were the most untrustworthy company in the history of the world of commerce, Quentin wouldn't normally mind as long as he was saving money. He believes morals have no place on a money saving site like this. This is not something I've assumed, it's straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

What has all that to do with the ethos of this moneysaving website?

People come for advice on saving money. The advice is to save money - ignore the tickets.

The morals don't come into it do they?

If you cannot see that your original post isn't misleading by not mentioning what you now say "should be clear", then there is no hope.

You failed to make clear that at the very least they have to buy a risky prepayment card, and pay its ongoing monthly charges, pay the top up fees, accept the risks highlighted about putting money on to the card, and spend in excess of £320 every month at uw designated stores in order to get this deal.

A major difference from the headline getting:

They are currenlty getting their phone (line & calls) and broadband internet through UW at an overall cost of about £6per month on average.

    Quentin,
I presume your comment was aimed at me. The context of asking somebody to listen to a pitch, be it practice or real does not matter. What matters is if they agree to listen to it. Having listened, they then decide if becoming a customer is for them or not. I fail to see what is cynical about a person asking for either help or just a hearing. There is no distinction between somebody who listens to a practice pitch and join decides to sign up, and, one who listens to a well rehearsed pitch and decides to become a customer.

If you mean the one below with Utility Warehouse, he's seriously thinking about it.

    Yorkshire Region.

    Gas 15000 kwhs

    Leccy 4800 kwhs

Up to 24mb BB (my exchange is fully capable of exploiting this, btw)

    40gb monthly download allowance

Free modem (yes, they CAN have it back should I ever leave! ;))

    Phone Line Rental

    24/7 calls to 01,02,03 AND 08545/0870 numbers

10 international destinations included in the inclusive calling package.

    Silver club membership

£10,000 accidental death insurance (I don't know any Russian KGB people and don't enjoy sushi so that's one worry out of the way)

    FREE calls to CS/BB support

No minimum term contract on any service (subject to £50 exit fee if leave the phone/BB package within 12 months. Your beloved BT would charge how much if you left after 12 months? Almost £200 smackeroos! Nothing with UW).

Chance to refer like-minded friends (hell, even sworn enemies AFAICT :p) to receive %tage discounts off our bill (on-going as well!). Maximum of £250 in any month and no reduction on club fees, phone line installations etc.

Free membership of Prospero Magazine and their exclusive discount offers (who knows? I'll have a butchers for nowt).

Cashback card that can mean sizeable discounts off the bill by shopping at designated High Street outlets, the 'biggie' obviously being Sainsburys for groceries, electrical items, heck even mobile top-ups and gift vouchers for other retailers if what has been posted on here continues ).

12x paper monthly bills fully itemised detailing all the services I take.

One monthly DD for the lot.

    Anything missed/unintentionally embellished etc?

    Total annual bill: £1387.00

    Monthly DD: £115.58

THESE FIGURES INCLUDE NO DISCOUNT FOR USING THE CASHBACK CARD. THANK YOU.

I am an Independent Distributor with Utility Warehouse and any opinions expressed here are my own and may not be shared by the company.
