I understand what you are saying. But, what if the potential customer is actually on one of those higher tariffs? And, what if they do a reasonable amount of shopping in Sainsbugs? If that person would save money on their utilities and are happy with the conditions, why would they not go for Utility Warehouse?

So wouldnt they be better selling points than a gaurentee thats actually useless?

which of the 4 UW services would cost the least extra?

You have fallen into the trap laid by the uw reps. They have trumpeted their card as something unique. But you don't need to join up to the uw to get a prepayment card with discount deals.

If you are prepared to do cash in advance, then you can get similar (and better) discount deals with the same sort of stores (Sains/Waitrose/Asda/Comet etc) whereby the discount is knocked off the shopping, not the expensive products from the uw! And you don't need to risk any money with the uw card - you can get access to the discounts via mainstream mastercards from a bank!

So is the video posted real, and if yes a fair representation of their sales techniques?
I presume that as somebody has posted a link to it, it must be real. When you say "their", what proportion of "them" are you talking about? Bearing in mind that I was not aware of what a martini presentation is nor the video.

Are you suggesting TP are operating a pyramid selling scheme ?

I think you find I said 'resembled'.

To my knowledge a pyramid selling scheme involves selling a service or product to another, where in turn you recieve a commission from any future sales they make, not sales you directly make yourself. Its the last segment of the video which as I said called it 'senior executive gold'.

And please reps dont get all defensive and agitated. Ive simply watched video presentation reputedly showing how UW recruits its distributors and I passed comment, and asked other for their opinion.

Offering benefits rather than guarantees (useful or not) is the way I try and gain customers.

You've got it a bit wrong. Pyramid selling is A, selling pyramids, B, selling stuff to a person at a price who sells it on at a higher price who sells it on to yet another person at an even higher price until there is nobody gullible enough to buy it, or C, A fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to investors from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors rather than from any actual profit earned, known as a Ponzi scheme after the bloke who became famous for it.

Yes, I didn't mean that UW were operating in a fraudulent capacity. The correct term is a 'trading scheme'. From Consumer direct site....

Trading schemes (also described as direct selling schemes, network marketing, multi-level marketing and other names) are a legitimate form of business activity offering individuals the opportunity to earn money by selling the scheme's goods or services from home. In some schemes, participants may earn additional commission by recruiting others to the scheme and from sales by their recruits.

The last sentence is what UW call 'senior executive gold'.

But you do if you want utilities for less cost than with other providers. You can of course go to other companies if you want to as it is your choice.

I choose to stay with Utility Warehouse as they are the best deal for my requirements now, and, it should be even better when their prices go down tomorrow.

    Carmine, has Quentin paid?

Goody! If you seriously want to discuss the subject, I suggest shifting over to the other thread on MLM in Up Your Income as that is more the place for it.

I am Egyptian from my fathers side. Apparently my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather used to sell pyramids. So pyramid selling must be as old as the hills. He was supposed to have sold that big one in Giza, he apparently sold to one of the Pharaohs.

I was told that selling is the oldest profession.
