Don't catch him off his guard and subject him to the martini presentation!
I am a Independent Distributor for Utility Warehouse and any views expressed are mine and not necessarily the company's.The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Accepted by the press as a headline 9%. Although as you know, Eon customers, myself included have bitterly criticised them for their deceptive implementation and 'confusing marketing'. Eon have varied their reduction regional, by tariff, which the press choose to ignore.
I call a spade a spade whether I am a customer or not.
edit
My primary electric rate dropped by 18% then any secondary units by 1%. So effectively Eon have capped my price cut. I would of been better off if they had spread the 9% cut across primary and secondary. Ive pointed this out to the Eon reps asking for specific points to be answered...nothing.0 -

No, I can't agree with the last statement as you would expect.
What I can say is....
1. For your gas, UW guarantee their prices will always be cheaper than British Gas, wherever you live in the UK.
2. For your electricity, UW guarantee their prices will always be cheaper than the prices charged by the regional electricity supplier for the area where you live.
3. And for your complete peace of mind UW guarantee their prices will always remain competitive compared to the cheapest standard tariffs available from the "Big 6" suppliers
Subject to the caveats previously mentioned ad nauseam
and with their range of other award winning and great value products and services they represent a credible alternative in todays market.
Can we all agree on this statement? :grouphug:
Mike,
You normally are better than this!
The caveats you dismiss are vital from a money saving perspective.
You are cheaper for gas than the BG standard tariff* however to achieve this you exclude the discounts you get with BG for dual fuel and payment by Direct Debit and exclude your UW membership fee.
* You have presumably not seen the caveat on UW's website explaining that even this miserable guarantee does not apply all the time; for instance BG's standard tariff has been cheaper than UW for the last 6 weeks.
As for 'competitive' we are back to my golf analogy with Tiger Woods.
The use of the term 'competitive' is meaningless.0 -

Precisely. The point I'm trying to get across is it's all marketing speak and should be ignored. Apparently BGs home page proudly tells me I can save on average £125 with Websaver2. That's it, that's the headline. Really? Yippee, I'm there!!! Oh, there's one of those asterisk-type thingies which usually spell bad news. OK, let's see what they mean:Product offered subject to Terms and Conditions » - THERE'S MORE?? (ed)
* Versus our standard tariff prices. Based on average annual consumption of 20,500 kWh for gas and 3,300 kWh for single rate electricity, averaged across all regions, rounded and including VAT. Prices as at 24th March 2009.
° Monthly Direct Debit £77 Discount
Gas customers paying by Monthly Direct Debit will receive a discount off their quarterly Tier 2 consumption charges of 0.196 p/kWh, up to a maximum of £8.75 (inc VAT) per quarter. Based on average annual gas consumption of 20,500 kWh as at 19th February 2009, is rounded and includes VAT at 5%. Discount received varies according to seasonal consumption. Electricity customers paying by Monthly Direct Debit will receive a discount off their quarterly Tier 2 consumption charges of 1.429 p/kWh, up to a maximum of £10 (inc VAT) per quarter. Based on average annual single rate electricity consumption of 3,300 kWh as at 19th February 2009, is rounded and includes VAT at 5%. Discount received varies according to seasonal consumption.
Subject to status, and not having an overdue electricity account.

I have come to the conclusion that Quentin and your good self just like a good debate and this thread is the best one for that purpose.

Hi Cardew
I thought better of you as well. I didn't dismiss the caveats, I just didn't see the point of listing them all out again as they have been highlighted ad nauseam in the thread already. (and would have meant a three page posting :rotfl: )
As for the 6 week delay, that works both ways, as the caveat states. If you go back to the massive increases, I believe that UW was the last to increase as well. I suspect that the massive increases dwaft the miserable reductions.
As for Tiger Woods, does he still play?Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0
