Don't catch him off his guard and subject him to the martini presentation!

Be neighbourly and show him how to reach MSE and this thread instead.
When does 'senior executive gold' became know as pyramid selling.
If a 'friend' of mine tried the 'martini' sell on me, he would be an ex friend very soon.0 -

That sketch is still one of my favourite comedy sketches of all time. A true classic and, clearly, still has some relevance today.
Call me Carmine....

Apparently BGs home page proudly tells me I can save on average £125 with Websaver2. That's it, that's the headline. Really? Yippee, I'm there!!! Oh, there's one of those asterisk-type thingies which usually spell bad news. OK, let's see what they mean:
I fully accept that all utility companies have T&C's, some that other may find unfair. It does not alter my point that the worthless 'triple guarantee' is so selective in its criteria that its laughable. Even the reps rounds here find it hard to put up much of an argument to its defence.
This triple guarantee will be used to allay the fears of a potential customer that moving away from a 'big 6' company is a safe option. The guarantee is used to show that whatever happens UW will still be competitive, when in fact the guarantee as I have pointed out guarantees little, if anything. Its simply a confidence building technique used to gain customers to their own detriment.0 -

So is its a fake?

I understand what you are saying. But, what if the potential customer is actually on one of those higher tariffs? And, what if they do a reasonable amount of shopping in Sainsbugs? If that person would save money on their utilities and are happy with the conditions, why would they not go for Utility Warehouse? Its simply a confidence building technique used to gain customers to their own detriment.
