Does that take home salary include your earnings from UW;)
So glad you are well off - thank you for letting us know!0 -
Well shall we leave it that UW gas and electricity is around 30% more expensive than the cheapest tariff, and you are very wise indeed not to have UW as your gas and electricity supplier!!!
You, with your very low consumption, would spend £146 pa more if you were silly enough to have UW as your energy supplier. - not that such a trifling sum would concern someone with such a huge income as yourself!
Somebody with average consumption would spend £300 pa more with UW.
As you are not(allegedly) a UW salesman, you don't have to persuade friends, neighbours and family to pay such extortionate gas and electricity prices in order to supplement your income. That must be a huge relief and you can live with your conscience!!0 -

Domestic Standard User in East Midlands will be £1.45 monthly standing charge and 3.093p per kWh plus VAT. Electricity £3 standing charge and 10.853p per kWh plus VAT. Economy 7 £4.50 standing charge & 14.446 Day with 3.50p night time, plus VAT. Don't forget the monthly subscription fee when adding up costs.

I moved house 3 months ago and the house we moved to had UW has the existing gas/electricity supplier. I changed suppliers straight away but this takes some time before the change actually happens. I think it was about 6/8 weeks. We have now received a bill from UW for £400.00!!
I realise that bill wouldl be high due to the cold weather/snow that we were experiencing at the time but certainly didn't expect it to be that much. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to pay it? I am going to struggle to find an extra £400.00 in one go as I am now paying for my gas/electric by DD to the new supplier. Which incidently is £115.00 a month for both. Any advice gratefully received.0 -

UW are certainly more expensive as I found out myself last year. In the 3 months I was with them the cost of gas& electricity was 3 times what I am now paying back with my usual supplier. If it were me I'd contact UW and ask them if you can pay so much per month etc.0 -

That doesn't sound that high for nearly 2 months of gas and electric in the winter, though I suppose it depends on how long your at home for during the day. I'm afraid you will have to pay though as you have used the gas and electricity. Is the bill based on actual readings, both opening when you first moved in and closing when you switched suppliers?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

thanks for your quick reply.
we are out at work all day from 8am until 6pm and at home at weekends. The bill is based on actual readings. It just seemed rather high to me. do you think they will let me pay in instalments as I will struggle to pay the whole lot in one go.0 -
Davesdaughter: You seem to be implying that your current supplier is cheaper as the DD is £115/month for both fuels.
Its a common ploy by energy companies to hook you with a low initial Direct Debit, then increase it dramatically when, surprise surprise, it does not cover what you are using.
Id suggest you take regular meter readings and use a website like i-measure to keep track of your usage.

As above give them a ring, did you never set up a DD with UW when you were initially with them? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Very true! When i switched to EDF back in Oct last year they set my DD at £8.00 per month for gas!! I am a fairly low user, but not that low! I wonder how many people they do that to who would (naively) think that £8.00 per month would cover gas in the middle of winter! I had to insist that my DD be upped to £25.00 per month and this covered my useage exactly for the winter months.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
