Well, we have now swapped energy providers. From the end of March we will be have left UW (thank Goodness) and have moved to EDF.
The UW customer service for us was poor, their fuel expensive and their ability to sort out issues negligible.
I can't wait. I have no doubt we have done the right thing.
I was unfortunately with UW for a few months back last year. They couldn't supply me with a correct bill despite me sending meter readings and also my previous supplier sending readings. In the end I got the Energy Ombudsman involved and after just over 1 year they found the complaint in my favour.
The energy I had from UW for the 3 months is more than I pay with my previous (now current supplier again) for over 6 months!
Even though UW were told to arrange a payment plan so I could pay for the energy used they keep harassing me with debt collection letters. I might go back to the Energy Ombudsman or even take out a County Court Summons for harassment now as UW don't seem to be keeping to their side of the agreement.0 -
That is indeed a massive amount of electricity, I assume you have electric heating and a very large house/hotel.
Is it ? dont scare me .
We have a 6 bed house, kitchen & 3 receptions, our Gas we are low users, but Electricity wise we are high, there are 3 computers on most of the day, sky boxes, tv's, the washing machine is on all day, tumble dryer, dish washer, 2 chest freezers, electric shower is used 4/5 times a day etc. Ive checked with what a lot of my friends are paying in similar sized houses and we pay about the same maybe a little bit more than some.0 -
As you are using so much and probably paying 20-30% more than you need to then I'd start the switching process asap.
It might be worth getting one of those electricity monitors like an Owl.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Ive done the switch ! thankyou. xxx0

to warn you in advance he accused me of being the devils accomplice and killing the world, I dread to think what retribution you will receive. As a UW salesman he had never even heard of anyone using the amount of energy I use let alone see one in person. (I think most of his clients live in cenotaphs, what would you expect, disco lights !!!, all he needs is a date of birth, lmao......)
peace be upon you, my money saving friend :A0 -
One of UWDC bible teachings "you must covince people that their free minutes when you dont use them they are paying for nothing so switch."
Erm even if I do not use up all my free minutes a month I am still better off my average mobile bill with them was £40.00 now I pay a straight £20.00 and so far have saved £120.00 PLUS I get free internet access so I can use the web and monitor CCTV through PDA when I did this with UWDC it cost me £5.00 for a minute hence had a bill for £200.00 odd quid.
Now I can if I get a text message from the house I can log on have a look and at least know its not going to cost me a fortune.
As to bills for gas and electric all estimates over done by 80% found out the local estimations and they are charging well above this.
Dispute over bills and the amounts dont pay three bills and the account is with their DCA who do not a CCL and no power for warrants.
This is how serious it is actually speaking to Ofgem.
Once we have buried them will place the recordings we have on them and then let the people decide.
Plus they issued an email stating only go for customers that they know could pay, no disabled people, no tennants etc..... talk about breach of consumer rights!
Personally I would close this thread down as bad publicity is always publicity and there will be people who will call them and fall for the all in one bill which if you are in business beware of the way they do VAT. (Illegal) Source HMRC.0 -
dont shoot me down, I went over my sums last night and I did my hundreds, tens and units wrong in original calculation ! our actual useage is lower:beer: 11956 kwh and not 12956 kwh. that was a money saving excerise doing that sum alone !!:money:

On that very high consumption I am surprised that you are only saving £482 a year by moving from UW, I thought it would be a lot more.
Still when you take gas as well(for a 6 bed house) surely your savings must be in the order of £1,000pa by moving from UW.
How anyone reading this thread remains a UW customer I really don't know!0 -
UW will be reducing their gas prices on the 1/4/2010 in response to the big 6,s cuts. Dont hold your breath.;)
From today their distributors will have to observe the new Ofcom Rules about the selling of phone services, and give their customer,s an up to date brochure, tariff booklet,T&C,s when they sign people up face to face.
Distributors pay for their own literature so have been known to ration the handing out of brochures.:)

I hope you've got some proof for these very serious accusations or you could get in trouble. You have accused them of doing VAT illegally? That is a very serious accusation. What is the 'HMRC source' that you claim?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
