can I ask - seeing as this thread is so huge, and so many people are very against UW, atre there any happy customers out there other than distributors ? Im not a troll - I ask becasue we are with them , I read this post time and time again, and think we should move, and my husband wont switch !

You need to do a bit of work to see if you can save money.
Try a few comparison sites, and remember to use your annual consumption figures, NOT what you pay per month.

Theirs a very good chance you could save yourself a fair few quid, if you follow MSE article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity

Does hubby not want to save money ,or cant he just be bothered to switch?

If you need any help post your region and annual consumption figures here and one of the guys will have a look for you.:D

It is absolutely certain you will save if you move, if you have average consumption over £300.

Presumably your husband's reluctance to switch is because he was signed up by a friend or relative, and doesn't want to cause offence??

Bumped into these guys in a garden centre yesterday.

Big stand offering the chance to win a brand new mini. No mention of who they were, or what they were offering. Perhaps they are afraid to advertise their name now?

Anyway, they stopped me and said I could win a brand new mini without any obligation. They just wanted my name, address, telephone number, email address, bank account details, inside leg measurements... (well I may have made 1 or 2 of them up :D)

Anyway in the very small print at the bottom of the leaflet, it said who they were and so I walked away without them getting any info. other than telling them I just noticed who they were actually from and so I wasn't interested.

Surprisingly they replied with, ok, we understand, thats ok...

No surprise to me. The way I see "the job," is to provide people with information so that they can make their own decision as to whether to join or not. If they are interested, they'll ask questions until they are happy to make their choice. If they are not interested, why waste time (theirs and mine) in trying to hard sell them into something they may be unhappy with?

What never seems to be mentioned is their shopping channel and the 5% discount at many High Street stores, now including B&Q, so now 15% is available if you are a B&Q Diamond club member.
Back to the shopping channel, there are many offers on here exclusive to UW members, just to mention a couple, the bike site Abike4u offers fantastic savings and the holiday site Prospero Holidays saved me over £400 on a Thomascook cruise price last year, but you need to browse the Discount Directory to find these, and as a club membership, I think all your members are entitled to this.

That's fair enough, but these guys didn't provide me with the information. I asked who they were from & what it was they were promoting and was told it was a free competition to enter a prize for a brand new mini without any other obligation.

I was only when I read the small print of the form did I discover who they really represented, and therefore what they were trying to gain from me.

I do not see why sales people can't trust prospective customers with information on why they are promoting whatever it is they are offering. Everybody understands it's just an incentive to buy/sign up to/join something.
