I'm not sure whether to dive straight in or lurk for April join properly in May! Think I'll read and research this month and seriously save receipts ready to give May a proper go:-) look forward to watching you all and learning from you.

Morning all - I ended up not following March's thread after a week and a half of illness in the house. Think shopping was generally ok (have been attempting fiscal fast, too) but didn't keep receipts. Cupboards gradually going down, but not sure about the freezer....! ;)

April is a 'fun' month for the budget - we're away for a week - self catering but spends on food will be higher as there will be treat food involved.... The children are then off school for a further week, which always seems to hit the budget a bit.... and it's DS1's birthday - so some treat food will be involved then, too.... The first fortnight will be rather heavy on teh budget, I think - will try and rein it in the final 2 weeks.

Am sticking with usual £450 for the 6 of us & the guinea pigs for everything. Not sure massively achievable this month, but we''l see. Shall keep track in my signature :)

    Hi everyone

This month will be slightly different for me. The first week of April I am away on holiday so my GC will run from 7 April - 30 April and my budget will be £200. I will keep track in my signature.

Good luck for another month

I love this challenge though not sure the OH does when I demand the receipt when he pops to get some shopping or say no you cant have that as we £20 left.

As we have a student with us I think I am going to increase my target by £10 a week as have to provide Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. even after allowing an extra £10 a week as well for electric, water etc we are still £80 a week up for a room that is just sitting empty.

So I am going for £150 this month. Have done my food planner for next two weeks using what is in the house already and just done a 2 week shop for the rest.

    Hi everyone

Just wanted to pop on and set up my little record of spends ready for April!

I came over budget in March, which I'm still working off but don't think I need anything else.

I've budgeted £50 for April, lower than usual as only has to cover me from 9th - 29th April as I'm in South Africa from 30th March.

This is the plan for April (I won't be shopping until Monday 9 April as my flight gets in 8am so have the whole day!)

    LC

    Apr GC: £0/£50
    Week 1: £0
    Week 2:
    £0/£8
    Week 3: £
    0/£9
    Week 4:
    £0/£9
    Week 5:
    £0/£8
    Stores: £0/£16

My first grocery challenge! I've noticed that April is going to be a few peoples first grocery challenge aswell.

I'm really trying to cut back, so I can pay off my overdraft, and keep out of it!

I wish I could do a monthly shop, but finances don't work out that way for me at the moment.

My budget of £120 for me and OH, I already cook from scratch, and meal plan, so I'm going to try and push myself a little further! Try a few meat free days etc.

I'd like to join as well, as long as I can figure out my signitures! Doing it in euros though cos I'm in Ireland but I hope thats ok! (i'll try and convert to sterling to make it easier).

Trying to save up like mad to go away on a gap year, just myself and OH in the house so setting a goal for April of £80/€90. :)
