  • Good morning diary. I've been awake since 6am due to a frantic grumpalump padding around in the bedroom looking for matching socks!
Yes, darling OH wasn't organised after our weekend away and although he was quiet getting ready for work he needed to put the big light on (my suggestion I admit), to look for said matching socks!
I'm off work till Wednesday and could have gone back to sleep but decided to get up, put bins out and get the dishwasher on. The cooker needs a total overhaul as it's starting to smoke when the oven's on, so bought some stuff for that to tackle when I've finished this scribble.
Other plans today involve doing my online bank balancing, finishing off sorting new spare room storage (new bookcases etc) and baking/ batch cooking for the freezer.
Before I do I want to record a little bit of luck that happened the other day.. Was in the car park getting a ticket for a 2 hour stay and a girl behind me at the meter asked me if I had change of a pound. I only had 40p in loose change but asked her what she was short of. 30p came the answer, so I gave her that, she thanked me and we went back to our cars. as I got to mine, I noticed a shiny pound coin on the ground so in the purse it went! Every good turn deserves another eh?
  • The new bookshelves are now filled with lovely new storage boxes, folders and ..books :) The room looks good now, with my old oak desk alongside the now neat craft/ genealogy/ office stuff. It will make such as difference when I want to find things cos before it was all heaped in plastic crates, bags and suffed in drawers elsewhere.

Have done my money balance thingy and need to draw several hundred out of savings to cover DD's wedding dress deposit I paid on Saturday with credit card (planned). The clubcard points I get from that will go a long way towards the actifry that I want.

Still waiting for the remortgage to complete!! The £2 coins, loose change, topcashback and ebay sales money is ready and waiting for first mortgage OP :)

And that's it I think right now. Not a lot of news but what there is is positive, so I is well happy. Off to catch up on all the diaries I've missed over the past week for inspiration.

Hi Pix I have started reading your diary and subscribed. Good luck with it all. I think I will start a spending diary from next month as I know I fritter money away on needless things!:rotfl:
  • Thanks mamamags and welcome to my rambling diary.
My spending diary was inspired by others on the forum, and although I'm only in month 2 of keeping one, it really is an eye opener!
Let me know how you get on :)
  • Good morning world..it's the weekend...woohooo!!!
    Money news update:

Mortgage - hadda email from the solicitor dealing with the remortgage saying it's all set to complete by 1st of March. The OP pot is waiting :) Soon as I get the mortgage details i'm going to set up online banking for it and get the OP pennies rolling in. Watch this space!

Daily spending diary - abandoned this month cos I haven't kept up with it. But will aim to start again on March 1st.

Work expenses - well hacked off cos my mileage claim for fuel reimbursement won't be paid this month. Why? cos a jobsworth in the finance department saw my car reg number was in the wrong box on the form! I had the thing returned on Thursday...3 weeks after I sent it in. I phoned em and there's nothing they can do. B@@locks to that! But the good thing is that I've been paying for petrol using my T@sco credit card and only one fill up out of the 3 I've done is due this coming month so when the rest is due I'll have the delayed expenses in my bank. So not so bad really.

I wish the remortgage would hurry up. I need to chase up my ex energy supplier too as I haven't heard anything from them regarding my rebate. Should be around £200 so that'll be straight in the OP pot.

Off to do my money balance thingy and then have a shower. God my life rocks ;)
  • This morning involves a M**sons visit as I've been reliably informed by OH that whole chooks are on offer 3 for a tenner. They will go in one of OH's 3 freezers (cos my one is full). I waste nothing of a chicken, even the carcass goes in the slow cooker overnight to make stock. So at that price it's a billy bargain! :money:

They also have ready made indian meals at half price but at £1.75 for a small portion I'm not convinced that is such a good deal. OH bought some and that's what we had last night for tea. They were nice but for the same money I could have made 3 times that amount of curry.:eek::eek:

Been catching up with diaries on here ((fantastic folk on here give regular doses of inspiration so thank you all:)) and feel even more fired up to get the mortgage OP's started. Waiting till 4th March to get the online account set up and a spreadsheet to chart my progress seems impossible. I'm a "get it done now" kinda gal and all this waiting is torture. I just hope Nationwide do an online facility or I'm stuffed basically :(

    Happy Sunday :j

But pix, there's nothing stopping you getting your spreadsheet set up in advance without waiting for the online account. Then you can set up a column with what the mortgage would be without any OPs, and put that on a graph, with a column ready for what it actually is when you make OPs, so you can see the difference getting bigger and bigger. Mortgage spreadsheets give you almost infinite opportunities to fiddle with the numbers even when you haven't got any money to pay anything off the actual mortgage. :)
    Starting again 13/4/19
    Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99
    Total owed: £28,801.49

If they don't then don't worry. You can open a savings account with a mahoosive interest rate facepalm-smiley-emoticon.gif and bung the money in there till you have enough for an OP. Control it all with another few columns on spreadsheet :T, so unofficially 'offset' it till you pay it off :j.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Thanx for the advice Lois. You're right about getting it all set up so i'm in the process of setting up a spreadsheet now, with help of OH who set up my spending diary spreadsheet. He rocks :)

Good idea about the savings account GG. Might just start looking around, in case :)

    Thank you both xx

In other news, I got my 3 for a tenner chooks then went to B& M where H**nz salad cream was 60p cheaper than Lidl. God some other bits n bobs that I needed and still within budget. Happy Pix :)

Edit: Just looked at the Nationwide website..they do internet mortgage management. Just applied for the user/password thingy so shoul be all set up when the mortgage finalised. Woohooo !!!
