Still waiting for the mortgage to be finalised. Still waiting for the surplus cash owed to me from my fuel switch but on the plus side, I sold about £6 worth of things I would have thrown away, on eb*y. All goes to the OP pot. OH has gone off to Domino's pizza to collect our tea. MSE tip of 50% off plus £10 cashback means we're paying £4 for a 21.00 meal, cos we got a side dish too. Will take a while for the cashback, if it is paid out but no problem. Gotta be in it to win it :)
  • Mmmm Dominos, I have been so good meal planning and cooking from scratch, but I am positively lusting after pizza after reading your post.

I think I am the only person on the whole MSE site who has never bought or sold on eBay, I have got loads I could sell too. I really need to check this eBay lark out!

I also meal plan and cook from scratch most of the time Mrs M but it's nice now and again to have a treat. It was gorgeous too. We had a half and half large between us (just the 2 of us in tonight) with potato wedges and chicken strips, and the dips with us are scrummy :) Haven't had Domino's for over 1 year, cos we make our own pizza usually. But at that saving it was too good to miss :)

Ebay can be a good moneyspinner. But I would do my homework as to what prices similar things to yours go for, and also make sure you're not out of pocket with postage costs. There are some really good threads about ebay tips on here too :)
  • Ebay is quite addictive, like reverse gambling!

Not really a lot to report on the MSE or OP front. I've sold £2.50 item on fleabay but that's it really.

Went to L*dl yesterday and spent £33 on flour, yeast, fruit and veg and some tins of tomatoes and other storecupboard things. Then to T**co and bought some bits n bobs that L*dl don't stock. Apart from work lunch stuff that should sort me for the month now. Planning on no grocery shopping till next payday (27th) apart from milk (plan to bake my own bread this month. Was gutted today clearing my baking shelf to find a nearly full bag of self raising flour well past the best before date. I hope I don't come across a forum thread with ideas for using this or i'll cry :(

Had a roast tonight, using turkey OH got me reduced on Christmas eve and froze. Was lovely. The leftover veg will be blitzed for soup, to add to the lentil, barley, split pea mix, already soaking in water. The bones are in the slow cooker overnight for the stock. That'll be lunch for me and DS for a few days :)

Last of my packet bread mix is in the breadmaker - tomato and parmesan one. That will be sliced up and frozen for the soup lunches :)

Now involves chilling on the sofa with scissors and housey mags donated by a friend. Cutting out recipes, home-making ideas etc to do a folder of ideas is the plan. There's a big pile of em so hopefully by breaking down the task to 2-3 magazines at a time will make the job do-able.
  • Ooohh I got 2 gold stars! I wonder when that happened :)

NSD today. Taken lunch to work for the past 2 weeks and feeling very smug about it. Usually I give in to laziness and "forget" to make/take lunch but the food flask and cold weather has helped no end in the motivation stakes :)

Looks like the mortgage is all set to go out asap. Have had confirmation of it all haing gone through and not happy that the first payment will be over £1000!!! I left a message for the phone mortgage broker to discuss cos that definately wasn't agreed to. He hasn't phoned back so will try again tomorrow. Not a happy bunny :(
And with that it's time for a cocoa and sleepybyes.

Well done on the lunches, pix. Hope you get that initial payment sorted soon. :)

Thanks Lois. £300 extra is a lot over budget. Still, it's all going to come off the mortgage and the broker did advise me to borrow £500 more in case of this, so with the fees on top it should balance out. By end of March I should be at same figure owing as I would be if I hadn't remortgaged, but with lower interest rate and 2 yrs less on term. Still a shock though!

Having the week from hell workwise. Too much work and travelling in diary and that means extra petrol not planned for. Average work mileage a month is 300 miles, and extra training, meetings etc mean it's likely to be double that. Ah well... Saving on lunch, spending on feeding the car :(

But this lady's not for turning (said in firm Thatcher voice). ..... I just need to focus on getting outa bed to go to said work. But its so lovely and warm wrapped in duvet.
  • Ooops, not a nsd today cos I had run out of hair stuff. Went into the shop after work today to buy it and also picked up a packet of crisps .. deep ridge salt n' vinegar. They were totally gorgeous and I was starving!
Didn't speak to mortgage broker today. He didn't call and I was too busy travelling the world for pennies (yeah really feels that way this week!) to call him.

Feels like my MFW progress is on hold right now. Still keeping spending diary and doing my banking balance religiously though. Reading diaries and other threads on here keeps me focused so one day at a time right now...ploding on :)
  • Not happy right now cos the other day I managed to lock my credit card by putting the pin on wrongly 3 times and it locked me out, then I got the pin sent to me, followed the instructions and got it unlocked by calling the automated helpline, then final stage by using in the cashpoint to get the unlock removed I thought all was well. Just got back from Ikea today after buying some bookcases and boxes as storage solutions for the spare room craft stuff and I is fuming! The card is STILL locked!! Ended up having to pay by debit card. Not a problem but I was going to use the credit card to gain some clubcard points, which would have balanced out the petrol I had to buy on my debit card due to the credit card being locked!!!
You see my Txsco credit card is now to be used solely for online purchases and petrol. This boogers all my plans up.

Ah well. We dropped the stuff off at my house, and ds has agreed to put them together as he's off work this week. Back at oh's place having been taken out for a lovely carvery after the Ikea trip.

Sat in his dining room now about to scan in loads of family history articles to the laptop, while he watches the rugby he recorded this afternoon.

It's a paper decluttering and gaining storage solutions day :) Not been MFW but at least it all helps to make my house my home :)
