Blimey, where do the days go!!
Well the saga of the missing mortgage refund cheque goes on..... after 2 weeks of being passed around with different stories of how much i'm due, mysteriously disappearing cheque and total apathy and incompetence on the part of the H@@@x I went into the local branch today, cos getting nowhere doing phone calls!! Was there for an hour and a half, standing firm and refusing to accept more fobbing off. It has now been escalated as a complaint and I spoke on the phone while there to Customer Complaints who will be allocating the case on mnday for investigation. I firmly argued my case and will be putting the same in writing ready for the Ombudsman if required. The complaints person allocated is calling me by Wednesday this week and they allow up to 8 weeks to resolve the problem. Personally I think someone has entered info from someone else's refund onto my account and the cheque was for that person. The amount is nowhere near what I'm owed and the conveyencer is adamant that they have received nothing.

Anyway, enough now cos I'm starting to boil again! Have made fresh pasta (tagliatelle) using 300g strong flour; 3 eggs; 3 tbs olive oil and 3 pinches of salt. Used pasta machine to flatten the dough and cut it. Having that with meatballs and home made pasta sauce. Perfect end to a crummy day fighting for my money! Got Dr Who on record to watch later with a few G&T's. Now, off to catch up on a diary or few before food ready. :)

    Well I wasn't expecting that!
I not only got my full refund today of £725 but they are apparently going to send a compensatory cheque for £100 too. I waited all week for a call from the complaints team as promised, as as usual they let me down. So I called this morning to be told that an attempt to call was made...erm no it wasn't! and that the refund would be issued directly to my address, with a separate cheque to follow. The larger amound came this morning after my call :) Sooo I can overpay £200 more this month and £500 next month as planned ...happy and relieved doesn't cover how I feel right now.

In other news, had a lovely non MSE chinese takeaway last night with both my babies, son-in-law to be and me man. Was lovely having everyone here in one place. Doesn't happen often enough for me but it's wonderful when it does. Much wine and food was scoffed and several headache tablets later I'm back in the land of the living :) Gotta do it all again tonight cos we've been invited to OH's brother's for cocktails tonight. The last time they had a cocktail night it took us 2 days to feel totally ok again but it was fun earning the hangover.

I've started my £2 coin pot again after emptying it to OP last week. There's £4 in it now...whoop whoop!!! Off to have a quick read of diaries now then will head to OH's to get ready for the liver damage evening. xx

A long time since my last post and no OP been done. Basically I decided the money back from the building society will be better used to replace my collapsing old wardrobe and replacing some of my worn out work clothes. I know that might sound ridiculous but having one wage coming in with very large monthly bills coming out of it means I'm unlikely to be able to afford a large purchase like a wardrobe. Most of my clothes are folded up and crumpled in drawers or at the bottom of the wardrobe cos it's a tiny one. I've priced up the one I want at IKEA and it comes in at about £450, so with the chest of drawers and bedside tables it will total £600.

Work is just ballistic with the amount of unpaid overtime I'm having to do and last weekend I worked both days to just catch up. Will be doing some again tomorrow :(

Not feeling very MSE at all at the moment and with a couple of weekends away coming up, this is unlikely to change any time soon.

    I need some motivation :(:(

I think you are quite right in buying furniture nice furniture to house your new work clothes Pix. It's important that you feel good about yourself and your surroundings - you can always start afresh your MSE ways from June:)

TBH I don't really understand why people spend absolutely nothing while they pay the mortgage off, then spend money on making the house nice. If you can pay the mortgage off in x years and then spend a year on the house, why not do it all together and have the place nice while you pay off the mortgage? Within reason obviously. No gold handles :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks Natty and GG. Your comments make me feel far more positive and less guilty about buying the wardrobe and clothes.
Just gotta persuade Mr Pix to put the wardrobe together when i get it and job sorted :)

    Happy days ....

Edit for update... well I went on a jaunt to town after I wrote the above. As a result, the IKEA wardrobe idea has been shelved! Cos I've just bought a lovely solid double wardrobe with mirrored doors for less than I would have paid for the other one. AND the delivery people assemble them too so OH is well happy. Cost £60 extra for that but it was worth it to see the look of relief on OH's face :)

Delivery is on 1st June...can't wait to finally sort my clothes out ... right now, i'm off out to the garden to catch up with the neighbours....happpy bank holiday Monday for anyone bored enough to read my waffle!

Hurray for successful wardrobe purchase, and build on arrival pix:T there's something very satisfying in having a well appointed wardrobe (says she who has clothes lying in a crumpled heap having fallen off the el cheapo hangers;))
