Me too Natty. Half of mine are broken or too small

Methinks a trip to buy "proper grown up" hangers might be needed....0 -
What a lovely sunny day it's been today. Didn't manage to get out in it much cos i was working but it does lift the old spirits

NSD today cos took lunch with me to work and being fed at OH's house tonight. Good thing really considering I spent a good few hundred on that wardrobe yesterday !
Got a £2 coin yesterday for the pot and tomorrow evening when I'm home I need to do a Tilly tidy of the loose change round the house. Gotta get myself properly focussed on the OP's cos i've lapsed, spending a bit more in supermarkets than i should do, but as i was living out of the freezer for a while I dont think it's too bad and they did need stocking up cos of that
Borrowing the idea from Alchemilla, ... 5 things i'm grateful for today ..
Sunshine
No spend days
OH cooking dinner
Having the day clear (ish) to catch up with some backlogged work in the office
Good health even though others around me have coughs and colds0 -
Hello again :hello:
Have been looking at my first diary entries from march 2012 and spotted a list of money saving ideas i'd thought of. Here is the update..it's not been a roaring success LOL
A list of all the ickle things i'm starting to do in my quest to be mortgage free:
1) Stop leaving the TV/ DVD player on standby mode. Uses no electricity when the power's off after all. This one i have been doing
2) Menu plan for a week at a time, cooking meals from scratch where possible and only buy what the recipes ask for. Not all the time, in fact hardly at all
3) Batch cook said recipes and freeze the extra (if it's freezable) I do batch cook, but again, could do better
4) Coupon hunt and keep said coupons in the purse, not on the pinboard in the kitchen, where they eventually find the way from the board to the bin after they've expired! Got out of the habit of couponing in recent months...must try harder!!!
5) Use freebie websites to get free samples (I've just had a small tube of toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, washing liquid, one use size bottle of tabasco sauce, 2 Twinings fruit tea samples this week alone!) Hmm....see number 4
6) Use the clothes maid to dry washing on if its too wet/ cold to do outside. Saves a fortune on tumble drying costs!!! Actioned! Go me !!
7) Cook with beans or lentils at least twice a week to save on meat costs..and it's healthy too. Nope...another to do something about
8) Taking leftovers for lunch at work or making a one portion of couscous with chopped up egg/ tuna or whatever is going spare. Very filling, low on calories, and a lot cheaper than buying from the canteen ..a win win!! Ermmm...this is going ok, some weeks better than others....will focus more on this cos it does save a fortune when I do it.
9) Baking my own cakes and giving as birthday presents Not yet. Oh dear, this update is beginning to look like a bad idea
10) Going to ask on freecycle for empty jamjars so that i can make my own jams/chutneys etc (to use as above) Got the jars, still empty apart from one with preserved lemons in it
11) Having been given a sewing machine, i'm going to learn to sew and make my own soft furnishings (bit ambitious but i loved sewing at school) hmmmm....not happened
So there it is....my catalogue of failed ambitions....but some sucesses and in other arenas I did slash 2 years off my mortgage when I remortgaged and have made one overpayment.
Every little helps as they say... and it is a little too ..ah well.....:o
5 things I am thankful for today:
* having had a lovely weekend away (even if we were both full of a cold)
* MSE forums to keep me focussed with the help of lovely peeps on here.
* Lack of rain yesterday when we were walking through Nottingham. (ok that's a yesterday thankful but cos I was away it still counts)
* Pizza!!!
* Free coffee samples (all 16 of them that were being given away yesterday on our walk through Nottingham city centre)
So there....I've started my freebie collecting again

Well done, don't beat yourself about not doing everything on your list. Life is busy and you are working hard. And having a well ordered wardrobe is an essential.
Good luck!:jPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Don't beat yourself up hon, refocus and move on :T.
Reading that list I have to ask, with the exception of the sewing machine and jam jars, are you me?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Mortgage Balance = £0
