After reading all the threads I think I'll make a paper aeroplane with my parking charge but just a bit worried about what I've read about them clamping us if we are found parking at a welcome break again with the "fine" outstanding. We travel regularly so a there's a distinct possibility they'll cross our path. Also, can their debt recovery people phone you up or turn up on the door step? Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks in advance.
No it hasn't happened to anyone because it simply cannot. Where on earth did you read this total rubbish?0 -

But drop in again if you have any problems in the future, as there will be a certain amount of toilet paper correspondence heading your way- keep telling yourself, HA HA This is costing the scammers money!
One last thing you could do for us though. You had a lucky escape and nearly paid. The crooks rely on the general public's ignorance of the law for their success.
So be sure and inform all of your friends about it, so none of them fall victim!!!
Maybe over a cup of coffee at Starbucks.........
Oh don't worry I will be making sure everybody I know is aware of this. It must be so easy to fall victim to - the letter looks so official. Thanks again everyone for your help, not looking forward to all this toilet paper i'll be receiving though!!
Oh and one more thing, I assume they have got my name and address from DVLA, does DVLA have the right to supply my personal details to a company like this? Quite annoyed about it...!0 -
Hi
Could someone answer my personal experience
I also received the same fine yesterday as when buyin a ticket my husband entered his registration into the machine not mine. The ticket was purchased and did cover the time period we stayed for. Before reading all this info I have infact emailed them an appeal with proof of ticket have I now accepted responsibility and now need to pay?
So scares of the fine going higher and being made to pay anyway.
Many thanks0 -
The appeal will be rejected. They always are. The circumstances are irrelevant to them.
The so-called "fine" will go higher and higher, and you will receive a series of ever-increasing threatening letters (debt collectors, bailliffs, court action/CCJ, bad credit rating, public stoning - OK, not the last one!) until you ... ignore them.
For a start, the car park owner has not suffered any loss. You did pay, and we never condone not doing so. OK, inputting the wrong number was not one of your husband's better decisions.
Most importantly, as they are not a council or the police, neither the car park owner nor their agents, the Private Parking Company (PPC) can no more impose a fine or penalty than you or I.
Finally, after the PPC has sent you all the evidence you need, you should then sue both the car park owner and the PPC for harrassment. This should bring it home to the car park owner what crimes are being committed in their name and, with luck, result in the PPC's contract being terminated. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Fine? What fine? It is NOT a fine and if you still think it is you haven't read enough here.
Being made to pay by whom? You DO NOT have to pay or 'appeal' (hahahaha) these fake PCNs!
What made you believe there actually was an appeals procedure, was it because the fake PCN impersonating a real one said you could?! Think about it...

Nina, the entire thing from start to finish is a fraudulent attempt to impersonate authority. Only council and police have any power to fine you. These private parking toe-rags just try and jump on the bandwagon by pretending they have some sort of power. THEY DO NOT. They do their best to mimic the councils. But councils have the law on their side, firms like this do not. They just try and convince you they do, but if you call their bluff they just back down.
They are very vulnerable to being sued for harassment; but, sadly, few people do so, or they would have to re-think their bully boy tactics.
But at the very least, get to the bottom line: You paid to park; so you don't owe anyone anything.
Even if you hadn't paid, the most they could claim would be the payment for parking.
The "fine" is totally illegal and cannot be enforced.0 -
Thanks
I am just do scared something will happen, iv never been in trouble before! If they send more letters shud I just ignore it reply?
X0 -
Nina- YOU ARE NOT IN TROUBLE!
Nothing will happen, except that they will try and scam you into paying them money that you don't owe them!
Would you think you were "in trouble" if you received an e mail from Nigeria asking you for money as you'd won their lottery but you needed to pay them something up front? This scam is no more legitimate...
Repeat, these people have no legal right to fine you, especially as you clearly paid to park...
Keep telling yourself, IT IS A SCAM IT IS A SCAM....
Be brave, I have given these and other scammers the finger for more than 80 of their fake tickets. I haven't paid anyone a penny and nothing has happened to me.
Nothing will happen to you either. Just ignore the swindling crooks!!0 -
Thank you... Why are they allowed to do it and scare ppl like myself? Iv got a sick baby and could do without scams as could everyone!

We share your sentiments. The Government make millions in DVLA fees that these parking companies pay them to get registered keeper details (some would argue in contravention of the Data Protection Act). Sadly both the government and the Information Commissioner turn a blind eye to all this, which means that the scammers can continue to extract money from innocent motorists, which legally they do not owe. It IS a scandal.Je Suis Cecil.0
