I think you have got the picture, peppercherry, that this is all a fraud and a scam. But drop in again if you have any problems in the future, as there will be a certain amount of toilet paper correspondence heading your way- keep telling yourself, HA HA This is costing the scammers money!

One last thing you could do for us though. You had a lucky escape and nearly paid. The crooks rely on the general public's ignorance of the law for their success.

So be sure and inform all of your friends about it, so none of them fall victim!!!

Maybe over a cup of coffee at Starbucks.........

If you are not prepared to boycott the company that thinks it can scam its customers, then, I have to say, I am a bit flabbergasted.
They want to scam and cheat you for giving them your custom and you want to go back ?

How clear do they have to make it, Welcome Break do not want your money.

It can be a very difficult decision. What if I ever get a ticket in my usual supermarket, which I've chosen on price? The phrase "Cutting off your nose to spite your face" springs to mind.

No, it was the quote which makes up the required message length. Tried it with spaces, didn't work. :)
  • I'm in the same boat as peppercherry but only overstayed the free parking at Welcome Break by 12 mins. After reading all the threads I think I'll make a paper aeroplane with my parking charge but just a bit worried about what I've read about them clamping us if we are found parking at a welcome break again with the "fine" outstanding. We travel regularly so a there's a distinct possibility they'll cross our path. Also, can their debt recovery people phone you up or turn up on the door step? Has this happened to anyone?
    Thanks in advance.

Show us where you read that?

Parking Eye aren't clampers so that would be very difficult! :rotfl:

And no, debt collectors don't come knocking, they are not bailiffs so cannot just turn up. They just write letters and occasionally phone up which is easily knocked back (see the top thread 'PPC letters & threats', as well as the letter pictures - check them out - and Watchdog clip -watch it! - I am fairly sure there's a phone calls 'how to have fun with them' linky).
