For a start you can stop calling it a "fine".
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I like many others on here have been 'troubled' by Parking Eye on St Peters Retail Park Mansfield. Already coughing up a large fine for staying 10 minutes over on a 30 minute free park as i didn't realise the change to the parking regulations when these robbers first took over I have now been issued another fine for not paying when I know I paid to park there for 2 hours. I unfortunatley threw my ticket stub in the bin (that was emptied the morning my fine letter was received). I know people suggest I ignore this letter but I feel very angry about this when i know I've paid the money to park. Any suggestions people. I emailed them yesterday evening to tell them I'd paid but you just get a standard email back saying any disputes should be made in writing.

Isn't an e-mail the same as writing nowadays? Or can't they afford printer paper?

Send the car park owner (CPO) a "Letter Before Action", advising them that they are "jointly and severally liable" for the actions of their agents, the PPC, and that any further actions by either of them would be regarded as harassment under the terms of The Protection from Harassment Act 1997. This ought to make the CPO call off the PPC and, hopefully, realise the potential cost of doing business with a PPC.

Send a copy to the PPC. They won't give a !!!!, but it is a legal requirement to do this.

If they send two more letters, sue them. We can tell you how. "Criminally easy" is an inappropriate but accurate description of the process.

  • i also have recieved a parking eye charge for 40 for overstaying by 14 mins. i have read all posts about ignoring it and still feel worried about doing that:o. my point is i did not actually park in a bay straight away i had to wait for a space. i noted the time from when i parked in the bay not when i entered.

Why? What is it about the reams and reams of posts all saying the same thing that should make you worried?

Why on earth does that make any difference at all? Assuming it was a free car park (was it?), then it makes not a jot of difference; the "charge" is just as unenforceable. Just ignore it, and all the follow-up you'll subsequently receive.

  • Want to say thank you to everyone who has posted about these charlatans and what an amazing forum this is. I have just received my second letter within 10 days of the "contravention" as they are now calling it , and, of course, I am going to ignore it. We have 3 battered cars at my address and 3 drivers of same ilk so unable to say who was driving. Without all you fair minded people I would have paid up - its easy to frighten old ladies! I looked up the stickies for letter examples and so was not surprised when I received the 2nd letter but still ..[STRIKE][/STRIKE].....oh, how I laughed!

  • Hello!

A similar thing happened to me while I was on holiday in Newquay last month. I overstayed my Parking eye car park ticket by 11 minutes. I have since had lots of letters threatening to take court action/send bailiffs... Ive been ignoring them but am starting to get really worried that they are actually going to take action? Ive tried to ring them to talk to someone about it but the line is completely automated and costs a fortune!

My friend suggested that if I am that worried I should just send them the money for the 11 minutes that I overstayed. Should I do this or do you think I am ok to carry on ignoring them?

You can if you like, but they'll just send it back as "it's for less than the owed amount", so you're wasting your time really.

But, if it ever did get to court, they've demonstrated their greed. And judges really do like to see parties trying to stop cases getting to them.
