Got my Amarya today, I was pleased with it, the cream looks nice and the lipgloss too, good value. My only gripe is all the facial products in beauty boxes (like the face oil) seem to be for dry skin - I have oily skin and after quite alot of boxes have had nothing to suit my face. So another one for my mum!

purplebutterfly - not sure if you worked out which SSB box you're getting but the 'May' one is published on the SSB website under the 'in the box' section. I got this box very early in the month (my last one) but can't remember if I wrote about it. Might be worth checking to see if the contents suit, if not maybe they might send the next. It does have the Inkia lip whip I think you wanted though.

Cheers hun, I had seen it discussed on FB and I'm relatively happy to be getting the May one that I've already seen. If I like the look of the June one I'll pick that up too - nice to know you can get them after seeing what they contain. Although it does ruin the element of suprise.

Are you sure you can't use the AD Skin serum in the Amarya box? It contains lavender and neroli - both absolutely brilliant for balancing the skin and reducing excess oil production. The AD serum says it if for all skin types so you could try a couple of drops and see how it goes? It is quite light compared to argan oil or rosehip oil etc.

A lot of people with very oily and congested skins swear by The Oil Cleansing Method. I haven't tried it myself but watching waaaaay too much QVC over the years :o taught me that a lot of experts believe oily skin becomes worse if you use oil-free products. But then again, they WERE trying to flog me stuff! :rotfl::rotfl:

QUESTION: Is the GB birthday box likely to be better than the ones sent out so far this year?

Tempted to get it because of cashback and free p&p but so far I have seen nothing appealing in any of their boxes.

Have they said that the birthday one will be good?

GB is extremely hit or miss. The best thing I've seen them ship is the Harrods box. The most current box contained four moisturisers and an eyeliner.

Rose80 My skins usually combination on my face, although went very dry last winter, and has now gone very oily. I've used Argan oil, and all sorts of creams, and it has made my skin more balanced, and noticeably improved. So second what purplebutterfly said. You may be surprised.

I've just started using the oil cleansing method as a treatment every 2-3 days again. It is absolutely amazing what it does for my skin.

I have adult acne, treated not very successfully by topical antibiotics from the docs. OCM gets rid of my spots in some freaky deaky black magic kind of way. PhD BF does tell me it is all sound science though!

I use 50/50 extra virgin olive oil/caster oil. google it or search on here but don't get bogged down with the ins and outs! I just use about a 50p size blob of the mix, massage it in for however long I can be bothered and then use a hot flannel to steam and remove.

    Oh no :(

    That's a shame, SuiDreams :(

Do you know that there is a swap group on Facebook? I think they're called 'Beauty Box Swaps'. I'm not a member of it but it looks very friendly and there might be someone that wants to swap their lipgloss?

I'm a member of that group! Beauty Box Swappers is the group. There is also a page which isn't used anymore called beauty box swaps.

Everyone is really nice. I mainly just check every now and again as I don't have a huge haul of stuff for swaps like a lot of people on there. I did swap my lip whip though as I got the apricot and it doesn't go with my fair skinned / ginger hair vibe!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I have just always been scared to use anything with oil for fear of a dreaded breakout!

I've read that article PB, sounds really interesting actually. I guess it makes sense with me stripping my skin of everything. I think I might get hold of the oils and give it a go actually - it's definitely worth a try. It says to do it regularly but not too frequently - any ideas how often would be best?

I've not tried the oil cleansing method, but swear by lush's Angels on bare skin. It contains oils, ground almonds, rose, chamomile, and lavender, and kaolin, so is gentle, but very balancing, and leaves skin looking well. You only need a pea-sized amount too, so lasts for ages.

s030.gif That's my kind of science language!

    Rose80

I have no more information - my knowledge well has run dry d030.gif The closest I've come to oil cleansing is using olive oil to remove waterproof mascara, I'm afraid.

I do get horrible oily patches around my nose, which is how I know about using neroli, lavender and sandalwood oils to balance my skin. I can't use anything harsh because my cheeks and chin are really dry (and often covered in nasty red Lupus butterfly rash) so I class my skin as "sensitive combination".

I used to use Lush like Missli but I got annoyed with them and stopped buying out of principle. The amount they charge for things they could easily remove the parabens and SLS from their items - but they don't. That's not to say their stuff isn't lovely though.

My ultimate, can't-live-without, holy grail product g015.gif is Suki Exfoliate Foaming cleanser It is like nothing else on earth. In fact, it needs a whole new category to itself because it is so much more than an exfoliator or a cleanser. If you can get a sample, definitely try it. If you can afford the small 30ml pot at £10 then go for it. It lasts for ages and leaves your skin unbelievably soft and smooth. If anyone has used Elemis Papaya Enzyme mask, the Suki cleanser leaves skin even smoother - which is hard to believe.

I don't use it to remove make-up (I always use a cream cleanser for that prior to a face wash) but I sometimes use it as a mini-mask. I let it go white and creamy on my skin with a timy drop of water and then do something else for 3 or 4 mins so it can dissolve all the dead skin cells and dirt. Then I wash it off using the sugar to exfoliate. It doesn't irritate my skin which is incredible really given how sensitive I am to things.
