Yay!!
Maybe keep them separated for a bit? Do you have a way of splitting them up so that they can still see each other? Baby gate?
I guess you just have to be patient and try to avoid them arguing!0 -
Just let them be - the cat and the dog.
As long as the dog does not show agression towwards the cat, the cat will come round.....
Waiting for the photos
Zara just got a massive smack from Macius - at home they sleep together but cats are out in the communal garden, went down with Zara to hang som washing, she went up to macius and got a good spanking from him. Hs back arched, sissing/spitting the full works... No idea why he did that, they are good friends indoors but I gues the "instinct" takes over while outside LOL
Zara is very upset now and feeling sorry for herself... 2.5 kg of a cat beating the crap out of a 40kg GS LOL0 -
Cats always get the better of Tyson too. He hasn't yet learnt not to stick his nose straight in there!0
-
Got a babygate between living room and upstairs, put Frankies food and litter out there for time being so that he can come and go at his leisure and see that the dog is here and it's his new friend.
She's been walkies, behaves very well on lead, not letting her off yet as want to wait until she is used to us. Behaves well in the garden. Doesn't seem bothered by any her toys yet.
Here is some pictures as promised

The last one is her now in our livingroom, all tired out.0 -
Aww she looks settled already!
Don't worry about her not bothering with her toys yet, it might take her a little while to feel like playing.
I have only just started letting Tyson off his lead after 9 months! He has awful recall and is very people orientated and so would go home with anyone! He also cannot be trusted with other dogs just yet.
She looks gorgeous!0 -
I'm not sure hows best to try let her off, cos there are lots of dogs near the park at ours, on her walk she didn't even acknowledge other dogs even though one German Shepherd saw her and was barking at her, she just ignored it.
She does come over when you call her name though so I think she will be fine but best wait til she settles.
She loves being petted, bog baby. Have introduced her to my parents and niece, took her down there for a wee bit as my mum is going to watch her any day when we have to be out for long so thought it best they meet sooner rather than later. She was really gentle with my niece who came walkies with us.
I'm in love

LOveyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy - what do you know about her background though?
Also, notices you attached her tag to the part of the collar where lead gets clipped on to - better move the ID tag to the other "circle", the one attached to the black bart of the collar, less chance of the ID tag snapping.0 -
Thanks will move it there

Background wise she didn't have a good start to life, she was rescued at 2.5 years old as she was being kept outside on a chain and when indoors in a crate and wasn't fed very well , she was skin and bones when she came to the rescue.
Has been in a foster home since then who have four other dogs and two cats, the woman has grandchildren from a few months to teenagers so she is friendly with all ages.
The woman from second chances who brought her to me said she is a bit overweight atm ( the foster home obv fed her up to make up for her skinnyness) but walking will help that as she isn't overfed just hasn't been walked as much as she should have been as the man in the fosterhome had an accident at work so isn't fit. She also said her nails are a bit long but the vet has checked them and said he won't cut them any shorter so just walk on pavements aswell and that will help them.
We've to take her to the vet that the rescue use to get her booster as they have paid for it already and it's in two weeks time, it isn't too far away, 20miles and she is great in car so shouldn't be a problem.
She's such a big softy.0 -
The rescue Casper came from advise you keep new dogs on-lead for 3 weeks, so they form a bond with you before you let them off.
You can always buy a longline and gradually build up to letting her off completely - giving her 10' of slack, 20', 30', then dropping the end of the longline but leaving it attached to grab if needed, etc.0 -

Sounds ideal ....Doesn't seem bothered by any her toys yet.
May take her a while if she's not really had any before .... Ben didn't have a clue what a toy was when he arrived - just think that's so sad .... still didn't take him long to learn!:)
