Yeah it may take her time to realise she's here to stay and the toys are hers to play with,

She has really smelly breath , gums etc are fine as that's been checked. Best just to get dentasticks or do you recommend anything in particular?

Don't bother with Dentastix, full of cereals and eaten within one or two bites. Natural chews like pizzle stick, pigs/cows eats, etc. - the stuff on Zooplus - are good. Raw bones can help, e.g. chicken wings or marrowbones, though never feed cooked bones (including roast bones/knuckles from the petshop)

I have pigs ears, haven't given her any yet though as don't want to overload her and make her sick,
    .

What's wrong with cooked bones? Not that I have any, just curious.

Can you still get marrowbone from a butcher? We used to get them for my old dog. Even if you can't 'legally' as such I can probably still get them as my uncle owns a butcher.

Cooking bones changes the way they break - they become rigid and shatter/break into shards which can cause damage. Raw bones are softer (most anyway - really dense weight-wearing bones can be tougher and still break into shards) so safer to eat.

Ah I thought that would be the reason but best to check. Was always huge marrowbones our dog got. She had them for a good few days before they were gone.

    Tyson LOVES dentastix!!

He will do anything for them, I even chop them in to small pieces for his training treats.

His teeth were awful when I first got him, but as he loves dentastix and won't chew on anything else at all, he has had one a day and now his teeth are beautiful :)

He won't eat anything hard like biscuits etc and he gets very aggressive when given a bone, so dentastix it is!

I got dentastix there just cos was at the local Scotmid and they were only £2 and I won't get a bone til during the week. Made a slight improvement already so will give her one a day on days she doesn't have a bone.

She's sleeping now, lying on the rug so she looks nice n cosy.

I can't help but feel bad for Frankie cat who is restricted to be upstairs, all his things are with him so he isn't going without and he usually spends most the night up there anwyays but I hate the thought of him being scared. Really hope he comes round soon.

Con - please get Kia an ID tag without her name on, I know it sounds mad but if a would be doggy snatcher gets her they find it easier to sell on if they know the dogs name as she will go when called, our vet and the neighbourhood watch round here gives this advice. Good luck and many happy years together :D

I've never had a dog's name on any tag I've had for the same reason, my parents never put any of their dog's names on either.

How did her first night go?

    Frankie will come round eventually!
