Yeah if its thundering I end up sleeping on the sofa downstairs as Tyson is the biggest wuss going sometimes!

He has never been allowed upstairs so I don't want to give him the idea that if he gets upset he is allowed up.

If he does get distressed for any reason I go downstairs, don't speak to him and just sit on the sofa for a bit not acknowledging him. When he settles I then go back up. If this goes on for more than a few times I just sleep on the sofa.

I have never seen him go upstairs, but on occasion I have found muddy paw prints in my bedroom! I think he must go exploring sometimes when I am not looking!

She didn't have any set arragements in previous foster home but it was a bungalow so no stairs atall. Will see how she is, first night if she is unsettled I may sleep downstairs or partner might ( he is a nighshift worker so may be up anways if he is in nightshift mode'

Her bed is set up infront of the radiator so hopefully be nice and warm for her.

Not sure about that - Zara and all my friend's GS tend to look for cool places to sleep, by the front door most of the time, acting like a draft excluder LOL

    Last night waiting, huh?

Con - please get Kia an ID tag without her name on, I know it sounds mad but if a would be doggy snatcher gets her they find it easier to sell on if they know the dogs name as she will go when called, our vet and the neighbourhood watch round here gives this advice. Good luck and many happy years together :D

I order Zara's tags from here:

Very fast delivery, nice solid engraving, do not rust etc....

To be fair, my dogs will come when called in a high, singsongy voice, whether they're called Casper, Kiki, Fluffypants, Oi You Stinky Mutt...you get the idea :rotfl: I would have no problem putting my two's names on their tags, I don't because I just order two the same and use one on each, but by the time someone was close enough to read their tags, they're close enough to snatch them, and I doubt they'll have any problems selling them on just because they don't know their names. Infact, if they sold them on as Casper or Kiki, at least I'd have a better chance of finding a trail of them, rather than trying to look for the new Fido/Bonzo/Captain Woofy.

Here you go, Zooplus have a "pet products under a fiver" offer on at the moment
    http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/pet_supplies_specials/pet_supplies_seasonal/under_fiver?unique=HTML13

Loads of toys, some practical stuff (that rubber brush to get fur off furniture looks tempting, but I have a phobia of ladybirds so not sure I can bring myself to buy it!) and those oinking latex pigs seem to be an absolutely huge hit with loads of GSDs judging by the GSD forum I'm on - though never tried one as Kiki would wreck it in minutes I think.
Tick remover, nail clippers, undercoat rake, a clicker, lots of handy stuff there too.

Ah I never thought of that :o I think to be honest ours might answer to anything too as they never get called the same thing twice in a row :rotfl: Ok Con, disregard that bit of advice :o

I have heard both sides of the 'pet name on tag/not on tag' thing. At the moment she has a tag with name BUT I need to order another as I want one with our vets name (incase of emergencey) so I will order that without her name and then wear that. I bought her two collars so will maybe put the one with her name when she is at home or walking on the lead and the other without name when she is in the garden. It would be very hard to snatch her from my garden but burglars managed to get in so I am sure someone strong could get her out.

Thanks for that link Krlyr, going to check it out and later on tonight will order stuff, will see what toys she likes as got her one of each type, soft, squeaky, ball.

Not long now :D Going for a bath then after that quick tidy up then she should be here :o

Well she is here, pics soon, boyfriend just taking her a walk.

Cat was hissing at her and is scared of her, she just wants to play - any tips on helping them get on together?

    She's lovely.
