Her name is Kia ( which I like, makes things easier! )
She is 4-5.
She had a (suspected) bad start in life, they think she was kept in a crate for long periods in her original home and not fed well.
She has been in her foster home for 5 months now undergoing her assessment, the foster home has other dogs and two cats, the foster lady has grandchildren from 2 years old. She is fine with kids, adults, other dogs and cats. Eats well and plays well, good on and off lead.
They told me she does need a good groom as you may be able to see from pics, plan on taking her to our local dogwash/groomer when we get her, it's £15 to wash and groom yourself in their huge doggy baths (free use of shampoos and products) or £25 for them to do it and teach you how which I think I will go for initially.
Hopefully have her soon, in the next week or so.0 -
She is also neutered/spayed/dressed, whichever word we use these days lol !!0

She's lovely.
I hope you have many happy years together0 -
She also looks VERY intelligent, she'll have you sussed in 5 minutes...and probably beat you at Countdown too!
Nice smart dog...please keep her intellectually challenged, simple things such as hiding 6 dog biscuits around the house each day - believe it or not she will wait until you hide them, and will also be able to count to 6 when she knows they are all found.
Other similar games will also be appreciated by her.
Well done on getting a rescue :T:T:T.0 -

Defo hehe, 'captain dugwash' is the name of the place, if you google their website it shows you pics of all their doggies in their baths, some very happy looking dogs and some not quite so.....:p
She really does sound lovely and ticks all the boxes that fussy me had placed ( for reasons though not to be awkward ) .
Can't wait to meet her and introduce her to her new pal Frankie. I wonder what he will think of her hehe. Any tips on how best to introduce? He has been around dogs when he was a young kitten before I got him.0 -

Thanks, all tips this way please !! Have had a dog before but was 3 years ago now.
Definately feel great that I went down the rescue route, I hope to be able to help the rescue out in future too as the work the volunteers do is amazing, the lady who I have been contacting and met for home visit was telling me today that she has a white girl GSD in just now for fostering and assessment, it was a vet who called them as the people asked the dog to be put down (3years old) saying it was aggressive - the vet didn't want to do it as he has worked with the dog, giving its injections, spaying etc all it's life and never saw aggression, the volunteer at the rescue hasn't witnessed any aggression either, she thinks they just could not be bothered anymore with a dogShame, hopefully after her assessment she too will find a great home
