Another thing, everyone I know with an iPhone refers to it as their "iPhone" everyone else with any other handset refers to it as their "mobile"
Hows that for superficial?
The iPhone is a game changer device, that's why it's call iPhone and others mobile phones.
It's one iPhone vs army of android mobile phones. Still the army is trying to come up with a weapon called iPhone killer.0 -

It's one iPhone (slightly changed on an annual basis) vs army of android mobile phones.

I chose the S2 because it has 16GB memory then you can add up to a 32GB card. I could only have afforded the 16GB iPhone and it would have filled up with apps, music pics quite fast. The S2 is a lovely phone to use, one young chap in the office said he wished he had it instead of his iPhone.

I bet the market share Android has keeps you awake at night. The first iPhone was a game changer, now the newer versions sadly for you do play catch up with other devices.
I know your technical knowledge is limited but tell me where the screen comes from, the camera and the chip set comes from in an iPhone, regardless of which one. The fact remains, an iPhone is a smartphone, one that is no better than others.0 -

You're saying that if you stick with Apple, you can just restore it over; but you're suggesting that not being able to do that between a HTC and a Samsung is a downside?
How do you restore from a HTC to an Apple or vice versa? Or from a Samsung to an Apple?
Your point is moot.

I don't expect to be able to restore from an iOS device to an Android device, but surely you can restore from one Android device to another? Isn't one of the big pros of the platform that you can go from device to device without any hassle? It's all there for anyone to see; subjective comments on the same feature.

No, unlike iOS the android is not same os on all android phones.
It's open source so the os is changed by the device maker. The android os on htc is not same as the one on Samsung. For example Amazon android tablet have nothing to do with Google at all.
Again many apps don't work on all android phones, some will only work with certain devices.
Look at the Android os like, many os versions made by many device makers with some part control by google which cannot be changed.0
