What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

Not a charity shop bargain but yesterday I bought a pair of white 100% linen trousers from the 'Manager's Special' bargain rail in M&S - for £1.00 reduced from £32.00.
I lurk round this rail every few days as they sometimes have some great bargains (although you can't return stuff unless it's faulty).
They had some great bras also for £1 but they were too big and a fab pair of 100% silk knickers for £1 reduced from £14 (but my bum was too big).
Our Oxfam seems to be really expensive compared to other shops.
I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks so I'm off to do the rounds of the 3 charity shops in our village to see what I've missed.0 -
I was looking through a house magazine and say a lovely, smoke glass tealight holder. It was £14!!!!
Anyway, I wanted it as I loved the style. Remembered I had seen some small smoke glass tumblers at the weekend in a charity shop. Went in this morning and bought 5 for £2.50. They are now lined up, with candles in, on my mantlepiece, looking great.
Can't wait to light them this evening.0 -

A bargain, I paid more but they were reduced in ASDA and I have 4 lined along the bedroom window sill that I often light at bedtime and they do look pretty. Mine are in red, green, purple and turqoise(sp?)I have spare ones that I haven't used yet..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I love it when you think of something like that to save you money

Our local hospice shop had a sale to clear some room for winter stock:
Jasper Conran jumper £1.00
Fair Isle jumper £3.50
M & S Footglove shoes £5.00 - these looked very new, probably worn once only.
Age UK has had a refurbishment and has put up its prices recently, however I bought a dress I had seen earlier in the year and was looking out for in my size. It's a Next polka dot 1940s style, they originally made them in red or brown. I bought a red one for £6.99, it is a lovely style, very flattering. I was really pleased with this, just need to get a cardie to go with it.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

I've bought a tunic from our local Hospice top - BHS brand new still with tags on, was originally £28.00, I paid £3.00.
Very pretty, hand-embellished with sequins & beads.
Also some Atlantic Bay (BHS) leather shoes for OH for £4.00, not worn - but the bloody things are too big!
Hopefully they'll fit our friend, or failing that I'll see if they will give me a credit note or I'll just re-donate them.0 -
No wonder you're pleased!
Was it marked with the 'Denby' or 'Danesby' stamp?
Most charity shops I go in seem clued-up to stuff like that which has the maker's stamp on.
I've bought a few Denby bits that I know are Denby (I have the Denby book) but because they aren't stamped they don't realise they are Denby and so don't charge much for them.
Very chuffed here0 -
At the weekend I bought my son an immaculate Land's End body warmer, sorry, gilet (!) for £3 - it is filled with down so will keep him toasty warm. I just looked on their website and they are £40 new!:)
On another note, I've just had a gift aid statement through from my local charity shop showing how much my donations have raised lately. On the letter is says you can choose not to donate the money raised and claim it back if you wish, although of course the charity is left with nothing. Does anyone know if anybody has actually had the nerve to do that?:eek:0 -
I work in a charity shop and yes some of them do claim back the money. Not many though or the charity shops would go out of business. Even charity shops are struggling now.0
