Same CS that I got the lovely red, wool skirt the other week. I've decided that this shop which belongs to a local (Special School) charity has far more sensible pricing than the national chain charities. I'll be donating some stuff there myself soon, they deserve it.

Today's find: an ecru, stretchy lace top from Next. Long sleeves and its own camisole underneath. It'll look great with black trousers or a skirt for dinner. Princely sum of £1.50!

I've been haunting our local CSs (and those of neighbouring towns too) looking for a pair of blue curtains in a classic stripe, which have totally failed to materialise so far. But I did find a proper big Furoshiki wrap for £1 this week; I don't "do" wrapping paper at all now, but wrap all gifts in suitable cloths (which can be part of the gift, or can be given back to me; that's all part of the fun) as the Japanese & Koreans have done for centuries. It's working out much cheaper than store-bought gift wrap, using CS & jumble-bought headsquares & other fabrics. I also use them in preference to shopping bags now; it's really easy to knot one into a very practical & sturdy bag & they take up less room in your pocket - though you can always wear it round your neck or head!

The one I found this week is masculine-style & big enough to do the rucksack-fold with, or wrap a big picture or mirror; very useful!

I gift wine in tea towels. Fold the towel into thirds longways. Then fold in half. You wind up with two pockets. Pop the bottle into one pocket and tie up the neck.

Everybody loves a new teatowel but never get around to buying one. Even my sons do this now and they say their mates are impressed to get the towel
  • A Moda in Pelle leather handbag £4.50
A Monsoon kaftan style tunic top £4.50
Some books for 50p each, non-fiction ones which look interesting.
A vintage Ladybird book design jigsaw for £1.50.

My local hospital has a book stall where they sell them for 30p each so I donated a few bags of paperbacks.
