Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes (I've been after a copy for years - just never had it in stock places when I've had cash to buy it) for 30p today.

    Hello
I know this is not really the correct place for this question but here goes:
I bought a lovely white David Emanual skirt from the designer rack - brand new with tags from a local charity shop for £8. I bought it for my sisters birthday next week, as I usually don't spend anything like that much on items for myself.

I haven't seen my Sister for a couple of months and when I met up with her the other day noticed she has put on a lot of weight and I really don't think the skirt will fit her.

Rather than give it to her in the hope that it fits and risk upsetting her that it doesn't - can I take it back for a refund or maybe a credit note if I have the receipt? Are charity shops like normal shops?
    Thank you
    JM

I think that's becoming increasingly common in charity shops. I'd say especially as it was for your sister (so you couldn't try it on) and was £8 (a bit more than usual prices) they probably won't mind at all. Give it a try!

I work in a charity shop on Fridays, not the one where I bought that coat above!
We will accept returns if you have the receipt, no problem.

I've had a good day today. Hadn't intended to hit the CS but found myself browsing as I went to nearby greengrocer. AgeUK had a sale rail (don't know if it's national). I bought:
    • Next black linen tailored trousers
    • Next black 'work' trousers
    • Gap stripey brown and white top with elbow length sleeve
    • Jigsaw jade coloured cami
    • Pink pashmina sized scarf
    All for £4.50!!

All the charity shops (at least national ones) I've been in accept returns, I bought a hoodie for hubby & top for me - both were too small so I returned them & got a full refund. I know it can feel funny returning stuff to a charity shop, but it's just not practical for me to keep stuff that doesn't fit (no space or money for it).
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

A sheer top with bird print New Look 2.99 Oxfam and a lovely Primark tunic 2.99 a size 12 so I was a little worried it might not fit especially as I find their sizes small but it was fine and a Rachel Allen cookery book 2.99.

I was tempted by some lovely plates but 1.99 each and I have so many plates so I resisted!

They are on my mind though!

Seen lots of great things but none in my size regreattably so I had a little "don't-need-but-would-like" spend.

Round my way Scope accepts returns but Sense and Oxfam don't.

A Kalico (is that spelt right?) pure silk skirt for £3, a long swirly bottomed per una one for the same price and a long cotton Monsoon skirt for the extortionate sum of £5.95 but if this weather keeps up I will get a lot of wear from it! Some more cropped trousers in pink £3.95, a good haul over the last week, must stop now.

  • Hi Lucy-Lemon,
Yep I'm in Bangor - plenty of CS to keep me busy & my little man well dressed for pennies!
Would you mind sharing your tips for Llandudno? Be nice to have a look elsewhere
