*** can we start a 'directory' of towns and the best charity shops to visit? Then if we're away, we can go to the tried and tested shops?? ***

This is SUCH a good idea. I love going into charity shops when I go away! I am happy to provide a North Wales guide :)

On a related note, does anyone know of any good, pretty central ones in Liverpool?

I got my OH a Rocha John Rocha coat today for £5.50. Looks brand new and fits him beautifully, so extra wife points for me.

ok, not a CS buy, but from last sunday's carboot visit -

2 primarnie items - nice posh brocade black coat for £1 (will have to replace all buttons as one was missing and no spare one!) and a nice size 12 (tho' fits like a 8!! so a lil tight!!) dress £1 and a £1 work George blouse.

1 skirt that was part faux leather and tartan pleated short skirt £1 (really like!)

2 Judy annuals circa 1960s (brought back memories for me, tho' am a 70s child) 75p

As a singleton, it's really hard struggling to pay for essential things like bills (just about manage on my meagre wages) but i go w/o nice things in life like meals/trips out, new clothes, house maintenance, hols... With another successful day at the carboot, means I will no longer rely on the CS shops (altho' it hurts a little on my conscience) but simply can't afford to pay for their prices when the carboot wins hands down...

I shall continue to read but hopefully not post any bargains for a while.

I have enough clothes etc so am going to try and resist for a while.

I did do this not long ago and didn't last long!

Ooh I kept all my June Judy and Bunty comics for years!

    Always loved the albums!

    Hi all,

My CS bargain was a lovely Radley bag in superb condition, which had been put on a high shelf and pushed right to the back. I only saw it as I was leaving the shop actually, and it caught my eye. I had no idea it was a Radley until I hooked it down with a coat hanger and saw the leather label!

The old ladies who ran the shop must have realised it was designer, as it was labelled up at £20, which is expensive for the shop, but when I googled it, the RRP is £180! :j

However, EVEN BETTER, was the fact that when I opened it, there were a tenners worth of M&S vouchers, still in date with a week left to run! So I went to M&S and bought a beautiful lamb shank dinner!

I was so chuffed, I even had to share my find on facebook :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
however, I still havent decided on whether to keep it or ebay it!!!

Oh I loved the Judy( not a Bunty girl) - grandma used to give me 2/6 a week pocket money and first thing I would buy is my Judy each week 3d then it jumped to 6d. Then she would by me the annuals for Christmas so I most likely would have read them as born 1956 and mum told me once I started reading it about 1962. Enjoy

I'm in Lincoln as well! Haven't been to any of the brant rd shops. Have had some good bargains from the lower high street shops, the one at the forum and the one on birchwood. Have read a few of your posts but never realised you were local.
