I did manage one gem though, I was looking at the Gruffalo’s Child book online last night and thinking I should look out for it, because my daughter loves the first one. As it was, I found the Gruffalo’s Child Jigsaw book in the last shop I visited for 25p! It was immaculate and we spent a good 45 min this afternoon reading and doing all the jigsaws, so that one was definitely my bargain of the week.:j:j
Its lovely when that happens, it's as if you have divined it and it lands in your lap. Even better when you can share the joy with someone else.

Something similar happened to me, was browsing aimlessly in the library this afternoon and snapped up a book I'd P'Inned. It had been randomly placed under "W", it is a "C". Anyway I'm enjoying it now, priming your mind in this way really helps!

I don't normally call into charity shops on Sundays but today I needed something from Sainsbugs and the BHF shop is next door so it would have been rude not to pop in wouldn't it?

Well, I was idly browsing on the bric a brac shelves when I spotted a silver skull with diamond eyes gleaming at me. Further investigation revealed, to my amazement, an Alexander McQueen, Knuckle/Skull Box Clutch Bag* in a creamy damask fabric with purple flowers and with silver hardware and Swarovski crystals. And the best bit....priced at £2.99! I am thrilled to bits with it even tho its not my usual style being a bit gruesome/edgy with all the skulls and knuckleduster type of claspy thing. :j

    * OK, I know its a fake, (spent ages doing a bit of research), as it doesn't have the proper stamping but it is beautifully made and in perfect condition....I just love it!

Yes, I do think it helps having things there in your mind somewhere, it happens quite often in charity shops I find. Now if only I could get it to work with big bundles of cash:rotfl:

    Two fantastic scores in November

An LK bennet wool jacket (hip length tweed style but a lovely purple and pink colour) for £2.50

A 100% cashmere 3/4 length camel coat (Christian Dior) for £80. Im ok with the price as it's in great condition and it was London

Sharp intake of breath at the price but on second thoughts - given the brand and cashmere - I think I might have been fighting you for that fab bargain. :)

I guess sometimes you just have to consider what an item would have cost brand new (assuming the condition is good).
I'd guess maybe no change out of £2,000 so to pay maybe 4% (£80) of new price is a bit like paying £3.25 for a Next coat that cost £80.

    I can justify anything.

    Of course it does. ;)

I totally flummoxed my old boss who expressed disapproval at the £60 I spent on a leather bag (less than half price in the sale, I might add).

I told him that it was an investment (it was, I still use it 15 years on and love it) and if we looked at total cost of ownership, if I used it 100 times it would have cost me 60p per time.
However, if I bought a cheap plastic bag for £10, used it half a dozen times and the strap broke, it would have cost me £1.6666 per time.

Therefore, my leather bag was a bargain.

At this point, he expressed his sympathy with my OH and left it at at that. :D

Pretty much my exact 'justification' lol! :D
I tried doing some googling on new price but couldn't find any that were 100% cashmere but I guessed around a couple 1000£s
And the condition is fantastic, just one tiny bit of damage

:o OK, fell off the not buying clothes bandwagon with an almighty thump this afternoon.

P u f f a parker jacket, immaculate, £6.50. Think full retail in region of £200 judging by websites. Sale prices are about £150. Looks good, feels good, will be on my back tomorrow and some other items will be evicted to make space for it.

If you've gonna fall, fall for the good stuff...... :rotfl:
