What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

Haven't been here for weeks and weeks now, but went into my local Salvation Army shop and found a brand new Mango maxi dress ---for £1.50.
It will look glam with jewellery, sandals and a tan when I'm on my summer jollies!0 -
I picked up a raincoat when in browsing with a friend the other day and thought I'd got lucky - at £7.50.
Errrm...maybe not then....as I've had to pay for a repair I didnt realise it needed.
Now I've got to get it "drycleaned and reproofed" and am being quoted around £24 to do that.
I only wanted a cheap one to do me until I lose weight - that hasnt worked out exactly according to plan then....:o
Has anyone done their own "drycleaning and reproofing" of a charity shop raincoat then? If so - how did you do it please? What's the process involved?0 -
I have a Berghaus jacket and have to reproof it every now and again. you need some NIKWAX and you just put the coat and nikwax in the washing machine. I seem to remember paying £6.99.
as you didn't pay much for your coat give it ago.£1000 Emergency fund challenge #225 - £1000.00.00/£1000- End of Baby Step 3 (A work in progress)0 -

Were you okay with just letting it dry naturally afterwards? - as I dont have a tumbledryer...
Can't tell the type of raincoat - as at the moment it's still in having that repair on it...so I cant check. It's just a pretty ordinary trenchcoat type raincoat.0 -
I have successfully washed all manner of dry clean only garments in my washing machine. I think that they stick that label on to cover themselves! Nixwax is good and easy to use and its probably better to let items air dry rather than risk contaminating the dryer drum with waterproofing.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

I think the Regatta/Tog24 type waterproof coats & jackets tend to say not to use conditioner as that ruins the waterproofing.
I second Nikwax - Yeoman's & most outdoor clothing shops sell it.0 -
Not been looking in CS lately as didn't need anything but we've got a Burns night at the club on Saturday & I'm helping out so managed to get a tartan skirt to wear for 3.59. it's quite nice quality and lined so will team with some thick tights. At least I will bring the spirit of the event!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Nothing for me this week, dropped into a couple this afternoon whilst out walking. I could say that I resisted, but the truth is there was nothing worth having.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Today I remembered why I hate going to charity shops on a Saturday, they are all crazy busy! I walked into one of the smaller ones and was getting pushed and jostled so much that I turned straight around and walked back out!
I did manage one gem though, I was looking at the Gruffalo’s Child book online last night and thinking I should look out for it, because my daughter loves the first one. As it was, I found the Gruffalo’s Child Jigsaw book in the last shop I visited for 25p! It was immaculate and we spent a good 45 min this afternoon reading and doing all the jigsaws, so that one was definitely my bargain of the week.:j:j0
