Today I got Dash jeans as new £2.50 and a Wallis shirt BNWT also for £2.50.All that clutter used to be money0

I may have a bargain.
It needs to go into the washing machine on a wool programme.
Label says 'Dry clean only'.
Hah!
Whenever have I taken notice of that?
I may live to regret this - but hope not.
Watch this space......
So - update on this.....
I bought a Jaeger just below knee length coat, it's 40% cotton, 30% wool, 30% mohair.
Very heavy and warm.
It went into the washing machine on the 'wool' program and appears to have come out unscathed, although it did smell like wet dog before it started to dry.
I paid £14.99 from the RSPCA shop which is a bit steep but Jaeger coats retail at around £350.0 -
At that price Pollycat I would have splurged on dry cleaning. Well done. All that clutter used to be money0

Joining this thread..steiner binoculars 8x22 £1.49 Thought they were a pair that may get given away with national trust or similar so the price seemed fair but when I looked through them at home the difference was amazing. Sadly no caps or case but still a bargain ( probably worth £80 new)0

Called into the Mind shop on Monday and saw a lovely, brand new looking, full length trench coat for £19.50. Tried it on and it fitted perfectly and looked great but I couldn't bring myself to pay so much for it. Couldn't stop thinking about it so went back the next day and bought it! Did a bit of research on it and I think it is a vintage Gannex coat, (anyone remember them...wasn't there some scandal involving Harold Wilson and the Gannex founder yonks ago??). Anyhoo, even though there was not a mark on it I thought I would freshen it up a bit and so I dunked it in the bath with some pure soap flakes then rinsed it oft with the shower head and hung it up to dry. Worked a treat. I think it must deffo be vintage as I believe the factory was demolished several years ago but the cut is very skinny and on-trend. I do love a garment with a bit of a 'story' :j

In my local Julia's house I got two crystal lotus tea light holders £1.25 each they had marks and spencer's label of £15.00 each on them. So that is my aunts birthday present sorted for next year. I also got 2 slate signs for 50p each, I will write on them with chalk pen and they will be great for presents. I got two Christmas novels for £1.00 each and one of them only came out last month. Bought 2 hallmark Christmas cards for 20p each along with some tree decorations for 50p. Also got a few other things and it all came to just under £7.00.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £480

I haven't darkened the door of a chazzer lately but I did get a reclining leather chair from Freecycle last week. I wanted it for my study to make working from home more comfortable, but realised I'd be lucky to get it up the stairs (as I just about managed to get it through the front door!) which made me think that I'd have to get rid of it myself. Nevertheless, after it spent some quality time with the Domestos followed by a light daubing of Cremola it scrubbed up well, it was a case of finding space for it.
My parents popped by unexpectedly and enjoyed whizzing round in it earlier, which made me think twice about taking it to the tip. So I downed tools for a bit, had a clean up (which involved throwing a lot of stuff away), put up a few Christmas decorations (out of the reach of out LO) and somehow managed to create a reading corner for it in my living room. It looks really cosy next to the Christmas tree!
I shall keep my eyes peeled for a nice chazzer cushion in the New Year, steam cleaners can do wonders.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Talking to the lady in the shop, the coat was only put out the previous evening (Monday) and when I went in just after 09:30 Tuesday morning, I was the 3rd person to try it on - they opened at 09:00.
Apparently it was 'too big' but I spotted that it looked like the button had been moved outwards to make it bigger.
It has a single button at the waist and one further up near the neck.
So before I washed it, I unpicked the button (it had been moved) & re-positioned it in line with the higher button, I also added a small button on the reverse to prevent it pulling the fabric.Sayschezza wrote: »At that price Pollycat I would have splurged on dry cleaning. Well done.
To clarify, it's not the 'pure new wool' type of coat - I'd never put one of those in the washing machine.
Because of the wool & mohair content, it looks knitted but it's not.
Think 'boiled wool', but fluffier.
I'm really pleased with it, just need to find room in my wardrobe for it.0 -
WOW! Reading through this thread is making me well-jel! Some real charity shop find being recorded!
We have a few charity shops near enough for me to visit....one of which is not disabled-friendly grrrrrrrr (They have a step up into the shop, and the door is so narrow that a wheel chair or wheeled-walker would struggle to get through,...they DO state that there is a ramp available, but you have to get INTO the shop first to ask an assistant for it!)......this is just a sleepy little town and we have NO designer labels in the charity shops (no shops that sell designer labels!!!),,,,and sadly my favourite bargains are very rare- I collect Children's books (mainly school stories and evangelical Sunday-school 'rewards') and really have to HUNT for them.
I have recently moved house, and that involved down-sizing....and I have lost a fair bit of weight and so got rod of some good, but too big, clothes...so I have been donating a few bargains for others to snap up!
I have my favourite shop, and usually donate to them....and some of the items don't make to to the shelves...do they have a list of people who are after certain items?????
I bought a lovely storage jar this week, for kitchen utensils...it cost me the princely sum of 50p. (I am looking at repainting it....the pink is VERY bright!)....and also a beautiful little wooden carving of an owl which was £2 and will make a very nice 'extra' gift for Mum this Christmas.0 -
A little update on this:Black sequinned dress with cut-away sleeves and turtle neck, maybe my Christmas 'LBD' £3.50
It took me ages - my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and it was hard to see the stitching on black fabric - and I had to do the dress and the lining, so 4 darts.
Then I washed it.
After I tried it on again, I decided to take the front darts out too.
So another 4 darts later, I washed it again.
So my £3.50 bargain has cost me a lot of time and fabric conditioner. :rotfl:
But it does look very nice, I'll wear it with opaque tights and some ankle boots with heels, I have a lovely antique necklace and matching earrings that look fab with it.0
