  • My OH remains convinced that I can find anything he needs in a CS! His daughter is bringing his first grand-daughter (1 year old today!) over to visit soon, he'd decided that it would be best if she didn't trust a buggy to airport baggage handlers, so that meant a CS hunt.

Nothing suitable in my local CS midweek but I asked the manageress (my former next door neighbour's mother) to keep an eye out. I called in on Saturday and had the choice of 2, got a Cossato buggy in really god condition for £10!

Well, no wonder your OH has such high expectations when you continue to deliver. ;)

    Oi!

    Where's everybody's bargains then?

I bought 2 Boden dresses the other day, really nice quality jersey, short sleeved so can wear in the summer and in the winter with thick tights and a cardigan. One is purple, fuchsia pink and gray flowers, the other is the same pattern but in cream, blues and greens.
Not that cheap at £5.00 each but Boden is a good make.

Got some more dresses (good names, some new with tags) from the AgeUK that sells all clothing for £1. Also got a slow cooker recipe book for 50p as I needed some new recipes.

A nike workout vest top for £3, also AgeUK, but one just a mile or so down the road from the other, just shows how prices can vary.

I always wonder where people live that have multiple charity shops, especially ones for the same charity. My local town has four charity shops and a Pass It On place. One of the shops, The Salvation Army is some way from the main high street, and is attached to the Salvation Army facilities there, which makes me wonder how much passing trade they get?

Today, I went to my local hospice charity shop, and bought three books, well I got two books, and then was told at the till, it's three books for a £1, so I went back and got another one. I bought David Coulthard's autobiography, Walking Away by Simon Armitage, and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (which I've read already, but I couldn't find any other I liked to make it up to three books) I also bought two DVDs, Blood Diamond and Rush, they were both £1 each.

Then I went onto Scope, and bought a book 'The Future of Us' for £1, it looks unread. They also had a copy of The Cat Ate My Gymsuit by Paula Danziger, for a £1, it was the same copy as one I had as a child, but it was a bit damaged, stained pages so I didn't buy it, but I may go back for it later.

Scope seem to be having a big push on getting donations in, they had a changeable sign in the window as to how many bags they've collected this month. I've checked their website, and they've got a Great Donate Hero promotion on.

My village has 6 charity shops (2 of which are the same, although one is a clearance) and the nearest town (7 miles away) has 11.

It's a job of work going round them all - but somebody has to do it. :D

My town has 6 too, 7 if you include the BHF furniture and electrical one. The town that has the shop where I get the £1 dresses only has that shop (they used to have a Hospice one which is my favourite charity), and the town after that a mile away has a couple.

My town has 10 including the local hospice, Barnados 99p and BHF furniture shops. Local towns have 9, 10 and 7. Funnily enough it's the poshest area that has the fewest but there have been some real bargains there!

Only find this week has been an as new, apple green, fine cotton lawn top with delicate applique work round the neck and sleeve bottoms. Came with it's own matching camisole too. On the £1 rail in the Community Shop :)

Our small town has 12! TBH I and DH have plenty of clothes and I'm donating more than I'm buying at the moment! I do have a little trawl every now and then but as I'm tall things that fit me are a bit more limited, I'm also very picky now too. I've been looking for a deep pink hat to go with the nice dress I bought in Sue Ryder but had to get one in Clare's as I couldn't find anything lol.
