What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

In our local Barnardos (where I bought loads of clothes and stuff for my Seychelles friend) they were selling 4 pairs of new- NEW flip flops for 99p!
Admittedly they are all the same colour (dark grey) but they'll please my friend if they're the right size. If not she can find someone to pass them into. Her trouble is that when she's back over Christmas, all summer stuff is obviously not in the shops. She's gonna need a bigger case! X
Two more summer dresses for my friend, plus a game for her school kiddies, all for 99p each, again in Barnardos. Th other charity shops in town (and we have another 6/7?) seem to have a big issue with their prices. Some of the things they are selling would be cheaper to buy new; is anyone else noticing this?0 -

This comes up regularly.
I sometimes pick an item up, look at the price, shake my head & put it back on the rack.
I know some Barbados sell everything for 99p but ours is over-priced, especially the books.0 -

The 4 branches of our local hospice shop (2 in our village, 1 in town, 1 in my sister's village) appear to have totally different pricing policies.0 -
I can only speak for the hospice I work for ..we have 36 shops and mangers set the prices according to the area.
I do not think the managers of the big charities are allowed to do that, they used to have guidelines.0 -
My local Hospice managers do this tooAll that clutter used to be money0

The charity shops are mostly there to make money. Some seem to have made a commercial decision to sell fewer things for more each, others to sell lots cheaply. The expensive shops are only worth it to me for good quality purchases, but the cheap ones very often suffer from being picked over before I get there. Occasionally I have been in a shop or sale where the pricing seems to have been done by someone with more time and knowledge than most and they have both cheap and expensive stuff, appropriately divided.
I find charity shopsmore often have better deals for things which were originally good quality and expensive as the price range in a charity shop is usually not as wide as for new things. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I agree.
A Primark dress for £3.00 versus a Phase Eight or Monsoon one for £5.00?
