I think it can happen to Clarks (and probably other makes too).
I had a pair of Hotter boots which I wore regularly and had no problem with.
But a pair of Clarks just disintegrated.
I was in the pub and noticed all these black lumps on the floor and realised it was from the soles of my shoes.
By the time I got home, there was very little sole left at all. :eek:0 -
2 great bargains above. :T
MrsLW - just a note about Hotters, I've read some reports that the sole rots if not worn regularly.
I've had that happen with 2 pairs of Hotters now, never buying that make ever again! And...it happened with my Clarke's sandals when I wore them for the first time this year. It's so infuriating.....do they expect us to wear our summer sandals all year round, even in the winter snow!!!? Both manufacturers did not want to know when I complained.
.....and breathe!
Not much to report this week otherwise....just 2 black M & S T shirts, (one BNWT), one long sleeved and one short. The hospice chazza was having a 2 for £2 sale so I couldn't resist.0 -
One of my fave charity shops closed down this week, I popped in randomly when passing and managed to get a brass candelabra to replace my bargain £50-reduced-to£10 glass one that I broke a few years ago for £3, a ladle for 75p and a cooks candle in a tin for £1.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. And a pyrex flan dish -pattern Poppy (1982-3) so not the oldest but still jolly useful. I'm not a fanatical pyrex collector but if I see them cheap I love the idea of something that age still going strong. This must be at least 33 years old and a bargain at £1.69. My favourite pieces date from the 60s.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

My dad worked for the company that made Pyrex in the early 1960's, we had all sorts of items and some were trial pieces. I liked the cofee percolator that sat on the hob, and the Snowflake plates that me & my brothers and then my sons had tea on as a child.
I was given 2 brown design Pyrex casseroles with brown lids as first wedding gifts in 1984 which are still going strong2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Don't torment me with Pyrex finds! I have a collection and haven't found any around for ages! And I've recently discovered that someone in the next town from me is selling vintage Pyrex on ebay, so I have competition :eek:0 -
Lordy! Lordy! Here I go again!
Do I really need another maxi dress?
And even though I clearly don't need yet another maxi dress, I've bought one.
Per Una - always fit me nicely - in a red/black/white design and the best part is that it doesn't need shortening.
I found that strange as regualr posters will maybe remember that I talk of lopping 6 or so inches off the bottom of my maxi dresses but I checked very closely and the hem is overlocked and it doesn't look like a home alteration.
£5.99 from RSPCA shop
And I picked up £1 from the pavement as I walked away.0 -
More books for me in a new town: 3 for £1.50 in one shop, and 6 for £1 in another including 2 favourites: "The Colour Purple" and "Small Island". I also bought a 2-piece Coast summer blouse (the camisole was a matching pattern, the first time I've seen that!) for the princely sum of £2.95 that my mum kindly liberated me of when she unpacked my goodies
. It looked really good on her so I'm pleased with that buy.
But a pair of Clarks just disintegrated.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have a pair of sturdy but elegant summer flip flops with sports soles that I bought in 2005 and just refuse to die (every year I think they are on their last legs, and every year they surprise me!) so I have boxes lying in wait for when that sad day comes. I will be most upset if I find they have deteriorated.
Mine were a sort-of rubber sole and to be fair, I had had them for quite a few years.0
