What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

I was getting some paperwork done today, when my sister dropped by at 4pm announcing "I'm getting addicted to the chazzer-shop" and showing me her latest finds for my niece. That was it, I couldn't sit at my desk any longer and did the 6 chazzers along the High Street in 60 minutes
My finds were a Per Una cardi-jacket for £3.25, a v good quality similar item for £3.75 in a different colour that will keep me nice and cosy - the SA commented on how heavy it was! Another casual blouse for jeans that I had had my eye on in the original store it was sold - alas the price never came down but it was destined to be mine eventually- and a blouse that I know my mum wold love. It turms out she has it already

My Mam hates charity shops. She's always saying "I'll wait here while you go in", or "I just have to pop to so and so" and I'm like "yeah, of course you do!" If she does dare venture inside, she's like "does this one smell?" :rotfl:
However, she came into one last week with me and I pointed out a pair of Hotter shoes that would have been great for my Aunty had they been here size, and to my surprise, she said that she (my Mam) would have had them as she really liked them but unfortunately they were too big. To say I was shocked was an understatement....maybe there's hope yet?! I never thought I'd see the day when she considered buying something from a chazza, never mind a pair of shoes!0 -
Trip to Malvern on Monday saw me get M and S striped smart shirt and a dark pink fuchsia jumper. Wore them to work today and received a compliment!
Also got a long sleeved t shirt and a star wars t shirt for son.0 -
Hello ladies may I join you? some fab bargains on here!
I'm a regular charity shopper but just don't post on mse much these days. Last week I got a pair of Clarks toddler shoes for £3.99 and a pair of Jo Jo Maman Bebe snow boots for £2.99. Both brands are usually pricey so I imagine the retail value of both pairs would have been over £50 together.
My 20 month daughter loves shoes (particularly Clarks ) so she was thrilled and she wore the snow boots on a visit to the farm over the weekend, they were perfect!0 -

Made in the USA by Eddie Bauer. Similar selling online between around $30 and $45 - I paid £2.99 :T . I suffer from painful Raynauds in my fingers in cold weather, and I think I may have at last found a solution!
What a great bargain for you! :T
I would have fought you for them.Bogof_Babe wrote: »In the same shop I spotted a pair of dark navy jeans, that looked really comfortable, very basic, no pockets or belt loops, and elasticated waist. I nearly didn't bother as they had "ruched" ankles, but I tried them on and they looked nice with my boots (despite my age). For £2.99 I thought I might be able to get away with them on appropriate occasions. The label said Jackpot Daily, which I had never heard of, but it seems Jackpot is a Danish company that specialises in organic fabric. Pity the washing instructions had been cut out, but they survived a 30 degree quick cycle and look great. A good weekend! :T
And stop it with the 'age' thing! We have three Sue Ryder shops here - one barn-sized place with a bit of the Mary Portas feel about it iykwim . Furniture, bric a brac, clothes and some new stuff, rather overpriced and not many people seem to go in. Then we have a 'vintage' shop -think it's aimed at student bo-ho types, hardly ever see anyone in there either and the stuff is expensive for what it is. Then we have the big twice weekly sale at the hospice itself. Most things are ridiculously cheap there, tops for 50p, coats for £1 and there is also a rail for 'designer-type' stuff. Hope you enjoy shopping at your new chazza and find some bargains. Let us all know how it goes!
As I said earlier, it's a large space but I wasn't that impressed.
I'm one of those people who like types of clothes in size order and this place did my head in.
They had 6 racks of coats all in size order.
Other than that, there didn't seem to be any order to what was on what rack - not particularly colour coordinated, not particular style related.
And - as I suspected - it was expensive, at least compared to the hospice shops (which will continue to get my donations and my custom unless there's something that I really must have in Sue Ryder).0 -
Well, it opened yesterday and I popped in today on the way to Tesco after taking a load of stuff to the hospice shop.

Thanks for reporting back! It sounds very similar to our 'barn' place! I wonder what the thinking is with these huge Sue Ryder places? Ours is part of a small retail park....wonder if they get a very cheap lease for a certain length of time? Anyhoo, it must cost a fortune to heat the place! I much prefer the hospice and the community chazzas. This week has produced diddly squat so far tho......:(0 -

And it had quite a lot of bought-in tat too.
Whilst I'm on a rant roll, why do charity shop assistants put those plastic tags though clothes instead of labels?
Saw a quite nice Wallis dress but somebody had put the tag through the jersey fabric at the front, close to where the sleeve joined the dress.
Yep - it had made a hole and it was laddering (as jersey tends to).
The Wallis label was there at the back of the neck - a perfectly sensible place to put a tag.0 -
I got a lovely and incredibly warm winter coat for £12.04p....only pain was as it wouldn't fit in the bag I had with me I had to buy one! I have been looking for a decent warm coat in my size for over a year, everything I liked was totally out of my price range - was really chuffed when I found this one as its utterly perfect.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0

When I volunteered in a shop a few years back, we were always told to put the tags rough the labels and never the clothes.
I guess those particular volunteers haven't been trained up properly, or can't use some common sense. Because surely it's obvious not to put them through the clothing as it could damage it.
It's a shame that perfectly good garments are potentially ruined because of it.0 -
