You can afford it, you love it and you would wear it.
Ticks all the boxes for me ... BUY IT!

How old? (sorry if that's rude
).
I'm early 60s and still wear Doc Marts.
I have a lemon yellow patent pair - these are the originals bought over 25 years ago - that a group of teens went crazy over, asking where I'd bought them.
Not to mention 2 pair of floral ones, purple ones and some tartan ones.
About the same as you, I'm nearly 64 ( how did that happen?), but I've never worn DMs in my entire life, and probably have enough footwear to see me out! Anyway I need to convince myself that I haven't missed anything! :rotfl:
A couple of weeks ago I posted about a Melaware mug that I had got from Oxfam for 19p (I think, might have been 29p). I remarked how nice it was that it was Made in England. Well today I went back to the same Oxfam, and on the same table outside was what looked like a rather uninspiring plastic mug, green with a white rim, which was again 19p. I picked it up and it turned out to be a mug with a separate white tumbler that nests inside it. I'm a sucker for anything that looks like it could be useful for travelling, so I bought it.
Got it home, both parts have scrubbed up a treat, and the bonus is that with the aid of my magnifying glass I notice that it is also Made in England :T .
I must be on a roll now, wonder what I'll find next time :rotfl: .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

It was and I did. It fitted perfectly and looking at the care label and seeing that it was 30% cashmere and 70% wool made me feel a bit better about the £15 price tag! Thanks guys for the input....so nice to chat with people who 'get' this chazza shopping malarkey.
We have a brand new shop opening next Wednesday - Sue Ryder - I peered in the windows, it looks all ready and it's massive.
We have three Sue Ryder shops here - one barn-sized place with a bit of the Mary Portas feel about it iykwim . Furniture, bric a brac, clothes and some new stuff, rather overpriced and not many people seem to go in. Then we have a 'vintage' shop -think it's aimed at student bo-ho types, hardly ever see anyone in there either and the stuff is expensive for what it is. Then we have the big twice weekly sale at the hospice itself. Most things are ridiculously cheap there, tops for 50p, coats for £1 and there is also a rail for 'designer-type' stuff. Hope you enjoy shopping at your new chazza and find some bargains. Let us all know how it goes!0 -
A Bosch washing machine for £80 from the British Heart Foundation, comes with a 6 month guarantee. It is much better than the 18 month old all singing all dancing Hoover I had which eventually fried its circuit!0

You will always get loads of wear out of a well made, classic neutral coloured coat so they're never a frivolous purchase. It's "going out" tops that I find you don't get much value out of, even in my party-hard younger days.
Recent bargains:
A pristine copy of Bring Up The Bodies in the 20p bargain bin.
An interesting fat paperback on the history of the English people for 25p.
An unusual picture frame with bees and other insects on as a surprise gift for a colleague that's into entomology and wildlife; nice to put a treat in someone's pigeon hole for £1.50.
A pretty wooden sailboat- 99p for my coastal themed lounge. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
I have read this thread for years but never had anything to add. Yesterday I bought a Remoska for £25. A lot of money but they are selling on ebay for much more than that and it looks as though it has ever been used as there is a sticker on the inside of the lid.
I'm off to check the Remoska recipes thread.0 -
Well done with washing machines and Remoskas!
Today (Age Concern) a Jaeger long pure merino wool cardigan £3.99
(Hospice Shop) Mary Berry's Complete Cookbook in hardback £1.45Normal people worry me.0 -
Barnardos near Manchester Piccadilly station today - a gorgeous dusky pink down-filled jacket, by a Danish firm called Junge. £6.99 and looks like new :j . Also while I was in there I spotted a brand new light coffee coloured bath mat for £2.98. We're having our bathroom done shortly and it will go perfectly with the tiles and loo brush holder we've already bought
.
I don't normally leave the station while I pass the 40 minutes between trains, but today I felt driven to have a walk there. It's the only c/shop I know of in Manchester, but I haven't really explored the whole town.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I had a good hunt on the £1 rail today and bought an oversized hand knit jumper. It's a sort of Arran pattern but in bright pink ( sounds horrible ) I wore it to the school gate with a cream gilet and got several compliments. It is totally not the sort of thing I usually go for but dh thought I looked very school mum ish. That is a compliment as most of the school mum's don't work, spend a fortune on clothes and spend all day getting ready for school pick up! My other £1 bargain was a brand new jumper with tag. It was a hand knit by a company called pure in Canada and had a price tag of £99!!! It's in a blue colour and dd who has a somewhat "original" dress style will love it.0
