Found a full-length evening gown in local hospice shop, thought £18.25 might be a bit much for a brand I'd not heard of, but on searching their website, I found that their dresses go between £80-120 in general, so feel rather pleased with that one.

  • A really lovely thick Next shirt for 50p. Feels like flannel and a very nice check.

I'm not a shirt person but thought I would broaden my horizons :)

A few rather random buys for me today I got 1 laura ashley full length curtain for £1 it will fit over my door perfectly so I'm pleased with that and a coat for my dog for £1. I had my first sewing lesson today I'm a complete novice but I came across a dog coat pattern for 20p so that is going to be something I tackle in a while as it has sleeves and a collar effect

I guess it depends on the brand you are buying.

I'd much rather buy a dress that was originally sold in Whistles (for example) - assuming it was little worn or unworn - and I'd probably be happy to pay more than a brand-new dress in Primark would cost.
    That's all about quality.

However, I agree that some charity shops are way off with their pricing by charging £1.99 for a well-worn Primark top that was only £2.00 brand new to start with.

    oh woe is me.

Today in the local Hospice shop I passed up while thinking about it, a BNWT Radley Large Umbrella £10 only to be snatched up by a person watching me at the till. I think the are £35 new.

Why do I do it -dither?

    Do you do this?

I have consoled myself that I could probably get one off ebay if I really needed one.

    Hey guys!
    I got a bargain!

Bought a grey Crombie - it's the proper make, not a look-alike - coat for OH from our local Hospice shop.

Very good condition, checked the lining and pockets, paid £15.00.
    Fits OH perfectly.
I looked on the Crombie website and found this:

    £595 reduced from £895.

Wondering if I should put it on ebay......

I also bought a pretty leather purse in duck egg blue with a black cat (Le chat noir) on it - 69p from Cat Protection, similar to this - Debenhams make:

I have done it, and what I learned was that it's better to pick it up and dither when you're actually holding it, as you can always put it down again. Better to carry it round the shop while you browse and then decide.
