I don't haggle in ordinary charity shops, but I've asked for and got a discount on furniture from the charity recycling place. And I've haggled successfully on big appliances in ordinary shops, and on the phone for things.
If I was spending enough I'd even haggle in poundshops.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Gingernutty - just read your post on your record find - well done!! I usually have a browse but good jazz is like hens teeth. ( did see Gerry Mulligan & Buddy Rich live many years ago
) My best find was an early Santana LP for DH.
I certainly think that the lure of the chase is what keeps us all lookingSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
morning all.
Picked up a lovely rectangular cushion with little beads for 50p. Got home, checked the internal labels and both read Laura Ashley0 -
I was in a different area completely this morning, and happened to see a chazzer open as I was queuing at lights...well I just had to pull over and park for an hour as I found not one but two incredible chazzers. The first had loads of children's goodies, the second specialised in books at silly billy prices. Needless to say I bought copious amounts from both for very little! The children's stuff will be donated back as soon as our LO outgrows them.
My two favourite pastimes....chaz-trawling and books!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

My friend and I went on a chazzer hunt in a nearby town yesterday.
Neither of us bought anything (oh - two paperbacks for me) and both of us were remarking on the prices asked. I find some of them are asking silly prices for L. Ashley; Per Una and the like- treating them like designer labels!Normal people worry me.0 -

You've probably made the right decision if it wouldn't go with your wardrobe.
I was in a similar situation a while ago with a Weird Fish jacket that cost £80 new & was priced in Age Concern at £20.
I bought it & left the tag on - they give refunds - and pondered over keeping it for a couple of weeks.
Then I decided to keep it & am glad I did. It's perfect for cold crisp dry days like today with flat boots & jeggings.0 -
A new looking long sleeved red tee for £2.50 which when I got home and read the label said it was 100% pure Merino wool.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0
