  • A gorgeous dark turquoise Tommy and Kate handbag for £4.99. It's genuine leather and is the perfect size to fit my ipad in and use as a carry on bag when I go away in a fortnight.

The same shop (Salvation Army) had some gorgeous footstools in, wooden base, brown leather/leather look top for £4.99 each. Tried to persuade my husband, but he likes the pouffe a with storage in.

My Mam is the same as your sister VfM4. She hates even entering them, can't bear the thought of who might have had the things before, and always asks "does this one smell?" before she'll even step foot inside!

    Just 2 finds this week.....

A pair of black Heavenly Feet shoes that are both stylish and comfy, (a rare occurrence for me!), B/N, £5 :)

A pair of B/N pale pink, (yuk), skinny jeans by Anthology, couldn't resist as they were only 50p and fit really nicely. I'm wondering if they would dye a more fetching colour? Anyone ever dyed jeans?? :o
  • Hello everyone Im new to posting on the forums and was drawn to your bargains lol.

I went charity shopping the other day and got 3 thomas the tank engine books - put away for my youngest sons 4th birthday in 2 wks , they were 80p each. I also bought my son a green tshirt , a long sleeved bear in the woods top and a lovely fine knit brown vest with buttons up the front. They were 50p each so £3.90 for all :) very pleased and he looks great in them. Made me want more bargains hehe :D

The fabric will probably dye but its likely the threads are man made so won't take the dye.

Miro - love hearing about your bargains but - I once dyed a pair of M&S jeans black (that had lost their colour a bit) and the bit of stretch that was originally in them disappeared. I don't know if thats commonplace or just me ....

Todays cs treasures are an orange Wallis peasant style summer top (size petite L) I am a regular 10/12 but it fits great! A Zara pale blue chiffony blouse with !!!!!bow tie. Both from the pound rail in Age UK.

Hmmmm....think I will be leaving the dying alone then....I'm bound to make a mess of it anyhoo....probably just try to find a long smocky- type top so there isn't such a big expanse of 'pink'.

I sent another 3 bin bags of 'stuff' to the Sue Ryder shop during the week....I now have dozens of spare coat hangers but still don't seem to have any spare space in my wardrobes and cupboards...don't understand that!!! Actually, I was a bit taken aback today....I always send my stuff, via an obliging friend to a charity shop about 50 miles from me so I don't see any of it again. So what happens??? One of my skirts turned up in my local hospice chazza today, (I know it was mine cos I turned the hem up), having done a nice hundred mile jaunt across Yorkshire and back! I guess they must re-distribute the donations throughout the county...:o

I do know in our local Hospice shops -there are probably about 10 shops over 2 countries, when items have been in one shop for a certain length of time (date or code or something on tag) they are packed up and sent off to another shop in the area, or to the distribution centre.
I live near the distribution centre, which opens to the public 2 days a week, and they have masses of bin bags labeled-eg "skirts" "men's trousers", I think if a shop rings the distribution centre asking for certain items they are shipped off there.

It's quite un-nerving going to the distribution centre, as everyone (staff I mean) stand and stare at you!
I've never bought anything there because I can feel eyes on me from all directions -the people actually follow you around. In fact nobody locally goes in there...I wonder why?

I'm getting annoyed with the way trousers are hung in some c/shops, on those stupid spring-loaded hangers that stretch the waistbands to double the size they should be. It looks particularly ridiculous with legging-type trousers, although at least they do go back to shape when off the hanger.

I found some lovely black linen trousers yesterday, meant to be size 10 (I'm a 12), but they were so stretched at the waistband they were hanging off me! I'd much rather trousers were displayed on clip-type hangers, or even folded over "normal" hangers, which is what I do with them at home.

I think they use the same hangers for skirts, although as I don't wear skirts I haven't really noticed. Anything with any elastic in the waistband is all wrong on these hangers.

Got that off my chest! :o
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
