Got the boy a £10 Tesco suit jacket for £2.50 (still had it's Tesco tag on it!) in a CS in Ormskirk whilst on Easter hols.

I was in Ormskirk today! All I found was a Primark teeshirt for OH in a c/shop that was having an "everything in the shop £1" day. It probably didn't cost that much new! :rotfl:
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • I have a favourite CS which gives £1 vouchers for each donation you make. You can spend more than one voucher in a single transaction, which means that I have had a Boden skirt priced at £7 for free, and last week I bought a £10 set of vintage simulated pearls for £1. I felt ever-so grown up when I wore them yesterday :D
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Found a lovely pale blue Poetry linen tunic for £2.95

According to their website, it should be £89:eek:

(mine's second row on the left)

I've not heard of that make before.

The shirt is lovely, I'd wear it with a pair of M&S linen trousers.

A poor showing in Kidderminster today. Then went to Stourport (which, traditionally, is not as good as Kidder). Nothing until I got to Shaw Trust which had 2 CDs for a £. Found 3 old favourites that I had on tape in the 80s!

Also 3 books for a £ so got 3 novels.

And a T shirt for smaller son from M and S - all childrens clothes for £1!

Nearly forgot! I hardly ever wear jewellery but also got from Shaw Trust a silver dragon fly with diamante tail necklace.
  • Went to Ross on Wye yesterday and found a new charity shop on the Alton road industrial estate. It's a big warehouse type one where you have to have a good rummage but I like that. Got a huge wooden CD rack for £3, but the best bargain was three paperbacks for a pound which included the gcse revision books I'd actually gone in their looking for. I bought umm fifteen for a fiver. Have paid that for one before. Even if I've got a few wrong ones by accident, still a bargain.

Today I went to Crickhowell a small village just outside Abergavenny. Only two charity shops there but in the red cross one upstairs there is an evening wear/ wedding or prom section full of the most gorgeous dress and glamorous things you have seen and reasonably priced too. Didn't buy anything today just looking for ideas ahead of daughters prom. Was going to go into Abergavenny as it has some good charity shops but started feeling unwell so went home which was a shame. Oh well there's always another day.
  • Today I bought a beautiful vintage dressing table for £50, super happy. This one but without the mirror.

In the days when I was working and could afford it - I'm retired now - I used to buy from a company called Wrap. I'm sure that's how I got on the Poetry mailing list (they sell by catalogue only as far as I know).

I think Poetry is a sister company - the clothes are casual and usually linen or a silk/linen mix. Very similar to Wrap, only a bit cheaper.

As I never tire of telling people, I'm off on my hols shortly and am always looking for nice scarves to brighten up shirts and T-shirts. Today I found a pure silk scarf in shades of blue by L.K.Bennett.

    It was 99p. Hurrah!!!!

Went to a nearby town and found a children's hospice charity shop I'd been told about where nothing is more than £1.99, I bought a pair of Peter Storm zip-off trousers/shorts for 99p and 3 paperbacks for 50p.

We have a Barnardos a bit like that - all items of clothing are 99p and it varies between £0.99p to £4.99 for other stuff (household goods, books, DVDs, ornaments, furniture etc.)

The clothes rails are a bit of mess at first glance. There's no artful putting outfits together with shoes and necklaces like you see in many chazza shops. That seemed to happen after the Mary Portas 'makeover' TV programmes.

In the 99p shop, the clothes are just rammed in.They don't bother with the steamer iron which I've seen elsewhere, and to be honest, 90% of the stuff on the rails is tat. However, that's the buzz for me because if you are patient and look properly, a few gems crop up every now and again. Ours is near a big supermarket so it's not like I'm going out of my way to pop in.
