Has anyone else noticed that some cs's are dropping prices? I live in a rural area with three towns nearby, all of them has at least two cs's that have cut prices to £1 and £1.99. A Dr B opened a couple of weeks ago, they sell nothing over £1.99 - not necessarily ironed but you'd wash it once you got it home anyway. Perhaps they're beginning to realise at last that they've got too much competition with the big chains?

I've seen these type of Barnados charity shops in a few different places - and have picked up a few bargains, including a great pair of Quechua crops trousers which are really comfy. It's a range of outdoor, walking type clothing.

Our Barnados, however, is very expensive and, despite popping in at least once a week, I've never bought anything.

We have a £1.99 Barnardos here in Leicester as well. I bought my interview clothes from there- I've not worn the top or jacket again but I've worn the trousers- they were an absolute bargain. Next high waisted ones, lovely quality and lovely condition. I went in the other day but I've noticed there's more and more trash and less treasure in CS's in general..

alex and co jumper, brand new. paid £3.99 in cs. very pleased.
  • I took a punt on a purple and black Monsoon jersey dress for £7. It looked like new, but Monsoon doesn't always fit me that well, but this is just perfect. This is just gorgeous though, and I got so many compliments when I wore it to work, easily worth the £7.

I like 'White Stuff' stuff. ;)

I took a full shopping trolley load up to our Hospice shop yesterday.
I've not found many bargains lately but after dropping off my donations, I browsed the books and bought 5 paperback novels for £1.
I then bought 2 paperbacks for 25p each from the Breast Cancer shop.
Then a Michael Connelly paperback for 50p from our 2nd Hospice shop.
Total of £2.00 for 8 books.

Then I walked 20 yards to the Barnados shop and found a different Michael Connelly book - in no better condition than the one I paid 50p for - and it was priced at £1.99.

Did I buy it? What do you think? :rotfl:

I love Michael Connelly too and, hey, £1.99 is cheaper than the £6.99 you pay for a new paperback! :D

Sure, but not as cheap as the 50p I paid. ;)

I don't buy books at full price anyway.

I bought 2 more holiday books on Saturday at 50p each - both in excellent condition:
    Simon Kernick The Murder Exchange
    Jo Nesbo The Snowman

From the blurb on Jo Nesbo:
"deserves comparison with the first volume of Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy" (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)

Needed some ink for my printer so I just had to check the local CS just in case didn't I?
Lovely M&S navy striped top for 99p & BNWT Country Casuals top for 2.99 - both in Barnardos. I often buy my cards in there too. Didn't see much else anywhere though I must admit I wasn't in the mood for a good rummage!

A trawl round Hereford today was largely unsuccessful apart from a box of tricks for bigger son. :-)

Then popped into Ludlow on the way home and not much doing there until I got into the Cancer Research shop (by the market) and found a White Stuff dress (that I'd tried on in WS previously but couldn't afford!) and a Sister Sisters CD.
