Going on holidays in just over a week (yay!) and I wanted to buy a new pair of canvas laceups and a top/dress type thing to put over a swimsuit. Went into my local CS and what did I buy...? A pair of Keds and a lovely floaty dress from M&S :) both for under £6. I love it when that happens.

I got a lovely M&S top for £2.50 today and Kerplunk for £1.99 for the kids. They have recently gone mad on boards games and this is going to be the cheapest way to get them for them :)

Went dance costume hunting in Cotteridge (South Brum) today, looking for wooden jewellery and gypsy skirts. There used to be six charity shops within 100yards

The Sue Ryder has closed down and the Wythall Animal Sanctuary had the shutters down, but I scored two long strings of wood beads in Cancer research, two flared skirts in Acorns and two more in PDSA.

The last two skirtswere pretty enough that I shall feel guilty about taking scissors to them, and the whole lot came in at under a tenner.

I went to several charity furniture shops yesterday looking for an older persons high back arm chair. I didn't find one but I did find a nice leather chair with a matching footstool which I thought might be suitable. It swivels and reclines, so I thought it was worth a punt at £30 and I told the man he could have it back for nothing if it wasn't suitable. He said it had just come in and he had not had a chance to clean it yet although it was hardly marked or used
Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a 6/7 year old John Lewis Caspar chair & footstool £795.

I feel guilty. They clearly didn't know how much it was worth. As it was a homeless/foodbank charity, I will give them some more money/ food next time I'm passing
john lewis Casper Leather Chair and Footstool- Havana Brown
Not only does this durable accent chair swivel 360º on its natural rubberwood base, it also reclines and has a special system to support your head and neck. This ensures that when you recline your head and neck dont follow the same extreme angle as the rest of your body - meaning that you can recline and still watch TV rather than the ceiling light! The Casper also has a tension adjustment handle, so that anybody sitting in it can tweak the tension to ensure a smooth recline according to their weight. The chair has a steel frame and moulded foam cushion covered in Nordic top grain leather. This leather is treated to disguise imperfections in the grain and given a tough protective finish against minor abrasions, liquids and staining. Comes with its own matching footstool for ultimate comfort. Seat H46cm. Please note: Our Spring Summer 07 Home catalogue shows the wrong image for this chair. We are sorry for any confusion caused.

    £795.00

    OMG!!

I think that must be the best bargain ever.

As you say, you will probably feel better if you donate some tins of food to them.

I'd be tempted to visit Lidl or Aldi - you can get a trolley load for about £20

That's a fab-looking chair, a great bargain and :T :A to you for not just gloating about your bargain but instead paying something back.

I'm sure the shop will be really grateful.

Thank you for your kind comments. I definitely will give them something. I have just spent the best part of 3 hours giving it a thorough clean. I have gone into every crease and crevice. First baby wipes, then coloured shoe polish, then leather polish. The circular base and arched part are beech coloured wood so I cleaned and polished that too. I often find that when doing a good deed, good things happen to me too

Yesterday I found some scarves in a box at my local Charity shop that looked like Orla Kiely designs. I just thought they might be copies and didnt buy them but bought 3 others that I liked the look of. When I got them home I found one had the Orla Kiely label and one was Fat Face. I went back later to see if the others were still there. Only one was left but I bought that, all for 50p each. I also got a large glass patterened modern candle holder that had the M & S label on the bottom for £2.

Wow loving all the bargains on here lately. I need to sit down and catch up with this thread as i haven't been on for a while or buying from charity shops sadly.

I decided to have a clearout a few weeks ago as under my bed i had a huge storage box full of unwanted charity shop purchases still with the labels on, things that didnt fit me or i changed my mind about. Anyway i'm back to shopping again now.

Today in Kidderminster i picked up a brand new floral Joules kimono for £5 in Scope. It still had tags on, not sure how much it would have cost new probably alot going on the prices on the website.

Also picked up The Gruffalo childs jigsaw book. Beautiful book with a jigsaw on each page complete for £2 and the Madeline McCann book by Kate McCann, i've always wanted to read but never got round to it for 50p.

Frith - I dont suppose the Fat Face sweatshirt you donated was black/white striped was it?

    Suze :)
