  • Happy New Year to all - and Happy Hunting in 2014!

Work kept me too busy to get to CSs recently, but as soon as things quietened down I got shopping. Best buys, a brand-new F&F purple cashmere for £4.50, then a Bannatynes grey 60s style skinny-rib polo, also cashmere, in a different shop for £3.50.

I've been working on the karma thing, you get back what you put in. One of the donations was a 1960s fake fur bought off Ebay and described as a vintage size 16, which would have been perfect. Turned out to have been originally a double-breasted one with the buttons moved as far as possible, so not only was it hanging out of shape but it was still only a size 12 or thereabouts. Moved the buttons back to the original positions, thought about returning it but I'd have lost out on postage, so decided to donate it to a local CS which supports an orphanage in the Philippines.

They got twice what I paid for it - and it fitted a size 6/8 perfectly.

Next CS I went into had a pair of Gucci loafers on sale - bright red ones, unworn and a perfect fit. When I took them up to the till, the manager said that they'd been in the shop for 3 weeks (maybe because they are size 35...), and he'd decided to reduce the price - to £6!

Got a fab Per Una wrap around dress for £4 (half price sale). I always buy my books at our village CS - 4 for £1 - and got a brand new Slimming World free foods cooking book (hubby trying to lose weight and it's got "proper" food in it iykwim), a low carbs cookery book (for my brother who has to watch his weight due to a health problem) and two novels for my mum. Fab haul.

Found a Rowallan bag in a charity shop yesterday.

Says 'Hand Made Fine Leather' and is in a lovely, soft, velvety brown nubuck.

Looks unused, I couldn't find it on the internet but I reckon it would be £100+.

    Cost me £3.99.

John Lewis deep fluted flan tin still with price label of £11.50 for £3 and 6 DVD's for 50p each. Also got a pretty patterned tiny set of desktop drawers for my craft bits for £1.
Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot.
  • We've just moved to a new village and have been exploring the 2 charity shops.
One is a large shop crammed full from floor to ceiling and tbh, it's a bit of a mess! The other one however is a nicely laid out "posh" charity shop with lots of good stuff in there - I can't wait to get rummaging in both!
My first find is a small one for my Scooby Doo obsessed daughter - a brand new Scooby Doo Glow in the dark jigsaw - just £1
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
    Debt free thanks to MSE
  • Woo hoo!
Just been to the local chazzer shop...

White stuff summer skirt with fish on (absolutely gorgeous, can't wait for summer now!)
George cotton dress/tunic for over leggings
Next knitted dress, over jeans or leggings
Gorgeous jaeger dress, wrap style, floral print
Patchwork print cotton sheet (for crafting)
Skirt pattern (this WILL be the year I learn dressmaking!)
Pretty china plate with bird pattern

    Grand total £6.70!!!

Ignore the high street ladies and find the grotty looking chaz shops on council estates and 'run down' areas, the prices are cheap and there's treasure to be found!

More chuffed with these bits than my January sales shopping at meadow hall!!! It's the thrill of the find (I tell my hubby!!!)

    Happy hunting everyone x

    Well done, ExpressEmma!

The charity shops in our nearest town are getting a bit over priced now. But I popped in anyway after dropping bigger son off at school this morning.

I needed some tracksuit type trousers as I am starting Pilates this week and had nothing suitable to wear.

    £3 for blue tracksuit trousers!

Then I saw a White Stuff angora/mix very light grey jumper. I'm really pleased with it! Trouble is, it was £7 but I think I'll get a lot of wear out of it.

    1) Harleston St Elizabeth Hospice woman's pink duffle coat, 70% wool, 15% cashmere £18.00. Hardly worn.
    2) Beccles Save the Children, man's waterproof coat £199.99. Seriously! Looked new.

Does he suit pink though ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Visited a nearby town on Saturday and found a vintage travel scrabble set in great condition and all complete for £1.25. What a bargain.
