Went to town today to pick up my prescription and while it was being done, I nipped into two charity shops next to each other, in the first I got a lovely long skirt, black lined with butterflies and flowers on (M&S) for £2.50 ...and in the second a beautiful (not even used) carpet bag...for £6..just found out that it retails for £150 (I've always wanted one of these) so well pleased!:D0

Had to laugh today... walked over to my local recycling centre and ended up having a mooch in a CS nearby - whilst browsing the rails I came across a (already second-hand) New Look coat/jacket that I'd donated a little while back which they'd priced at £8.99. It surprised me because it's made out of quite thin material, so wouldn't be very robust in the long-run, hence why I donated it in the first-place. I'd paid under £4 for it on that well known bidding site! For a third-hand item (albeit unknowing) I just hope it sells and they get the money for it! This particular CS isn't one I buy much from because of their ambitious pricing. However I did once pay £1.99 for a pair of red heart-shaped Le Creuset ramekins from there so not all bad!0

I know exactly what you mean about pricing.
I saw a nice tunic/short dress from Primark in our (very expensive) BHF, it was BNWT - had been £6 in Primark, then reduced to £3. I thought it would have been a good beach cover-up (I'm quite small).
BHF had it priced at £4.99.
No way!
I don't know what they do with the unsold clothes, that shop doesn't seem to have a sale rail.0 -

That's why I always pass on any Primark items.
I'm not sure but I've heard that some places sell them on so they get packed up and imported to poorer countries. But yeah, don't know how accurate that is.0 -

It's completely accurate - the clothes are sold in bundles in African ports (I know this to be fact btw) and then go to warehouses, then sold again in small bundles to street market traders. Everywhere in Tanzania (for example) you will see 'tree boutiques' with western secondhand clothing for sale on the side of the road. Africans want to look affluent, westerners living there need clothing too - and real clothing shops are few and far between and VERY expensive, a pair of cheapo leggings in Mr Price will set you back £30
The sales of the secondhand western imported clothing has a disasterous effect on the locally produced traditional clothing market.Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.

Was a bit annoyed as I've recently begun working 9-5, I can only get into the CS at the weekend now. Went into one I'm not that fussed on (in terms of pricing, smell and the people that go there/work there) and there was a bunch of women in their late 30s seemingly on a trot around the local charity shops for the day. They were like VULTURES, they were hogging clothes rails, bumping into me without saying sorry, and as I left the shop p*ssed off one of them was trying to haggle for two tops, both of which were €5 anyway. I wouldn't mind but they were all wearing some v v nice leather boots that probably cost a pretty penny - well heeled eh! They weren't local as i overheard one of them on the phone. THey probably read in some magazine that charity shops were "in". I hate rude people in CS, we're all there for a reason, most of us can't afford full price.
I'm still fuming, honestly.0
