  • I've worn something from a charity shop to work every day this week. I think good name bargains now make up the majority of my wardrobe.

Im going out next Saturday night and everything apart from the underwear will be from charity shops, dress from oxfam, bag from oxfam, jacket from red cross, shoes were second hand as well, but from asos marketplace. I like oxfam online, some of the stuff can be a bit pricey but every now and then you'll get a brand new with tags bargain.

I think its because all the people here live in the real world - trying to make ends meet. You are right - everyone here is kind and generous & celebrates a good bargain whether its their own or someone else's!

kitsch so sorry to hear of the theft from your Mum - she must feel absolutely sick - give her a big hug from me

Thanks, Luckily to her the money was the least of her worries, she was frantic over her cards, but we were able to go straight to the banks to ensure they were cancelled which made her feel a lot better, & she has called Boots as she didn't want her advantage points stolen! Getting a new bus pass will be the most annoying for her.

Now £50 for me would have been a huge amount (seeing as I have about £3 left to last me to the end of this month). But having had my entire handbag stolen a few years ago I do know how she felt. Luckily she still had everything else including her keys & phone still in her handbag.

We will have to be a lot more careful in the charity shops in that area now though as it seems there have been a number of such incidents - especially in the shop we believe it happened in. :(

Sadly our day out trawling the charity shops yesterday was ruined as my mum had just gotten £50 out of the bank, and her purse was stolen.

We think it was when she noticed a load of clothes on the floor in a charity shop, called to let the assist know & someone swiped her purse out of her bag. :( It may even have been a deliberate distraction so they could get in her bag. :(

Awww that's terrible, your poor Mum :( I hope they catch the scumbags who did it  Does the charity shop have CCTV?

The shop doesn't but the street does.

Hope they catch them, how awful for your mum. I had £20 nicked out of my pocket yrs ago in a charity shop.

In one of the charity shops i was in today there was warning signs up saying pickpockets operating in area, I was very aware of a man hovering around me near my bag (an over the body type one) so was very cautious holding onto my bag, some horrible scumbags around isn't there x

Went CS'ing with Mum today. Got a BNWT M&S Navy blue Linen skirt for £3.50 and a Per Una Navy blue short sleeved lacy cardigan for £1.50

That's Mondays work outfit sorted for a fiver!

Also got a lovely heavy wooden rolling pin for 50p. I don't make pastry but needed one for making crumble out of shortbread biscuits.

I managed to get a spare ceramic bowl for my Kenwood Chef mixer yesterday for £2 :D

Round here, they ask daft prices (much more than the local antiques centres) for anything that looks old or vintage, but you can still get useful things that are really worth far more than chipped and unfashionable bits of old china (you only have to take a cursory look on ebay) very cheaply. I think they must be taking the wrong advice.
