Cool thread, I love Charity shops! I actually volunteer in the British Heart Foundation, which is great, but not so great for my purse :rotfl: I nearly always come back with things....it costs me to work there lol!

My last good buys were a BNWT New Look Jumper, was £16.99, got it for about £3.50 after staff discount, and 2 big salt lamp tea light holders for £3.75 each, they are usually quite expensive for the big ones I think.

Oh, and when it's quite and I'm looking for something to do, I go round and organise the clothes (which are already sorted into different sections and sizes, ie tops, coats etc) into the same colours too!

I find the BHF in town is the best one locally. You have Cancer Research & Tenovus but I find that people give them junk, nothing you can really buy & its not really an inviting place to go in.

BHF is a new shop bright & airy which really helps. I often go into the city & they have more shops & better stuff. I'll have to go again for a look & visit all of them after Easter. My friend & I make a day of it!
  • We have loads of CFs here but as a rule I am "not allowed" in them by Mr Rage (to be fair, he does have a point). However today I was walking past one and I broke the rule  for two pieces of Regency Green Denby. A small bowl (smaller than the lidded sugar bowl) and a small jug - gravy boat size but no saucer. £3.50 the pair. Bargain! :T
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Today in our local Love to Give (for local hospice) I bought a huge white floor basket for £4. It will look great indoors maybe filled with lavender or even on the patio in summer. I love basket ware.

To the poster who I overheard in Barnardos Southport (but didn't realise it at the time, until I read on here!) - isn't it a shame that they've had to close it due to the Rates being too dear? :( I was loving their "all clothes 99p" permanent sale. Managed to get three lovely teeshirts in there the day before they closed last weekend.

I'm sad that it closed. Someone said on a local website, that they'd heard a rumor it may open in Ainsdale.

On the upside, Banks car boot sale starts again on Saturday. :D (as long as it's not flippin' raining!)

I have been looking for dining chairs for ages . I got two antique wheel backed chairs - not an exact pair but very similar which kind of adds to their random charm:rotfl:for £8 the pair . I am chuffed to bits :D just starting to get the ancient sticky wax off of them , this will take a lot of patience but it will be worth it ! I love them.
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

That woulld be good, if Ainsdale gets another c/shop. Funny little place, I've only bothered to go there twice, and it doesn't have much to offer does it? I always imagined it as being full of rich footballers, but you wouldn't know it from the "town centre" - well just one street really.

Never been to Banks. Keep meaning to find Churchtown though, as I believe that is a charming little village. I don't have a car in Southport so it all depends on the bus timetables.

I'm not even allowing myself to look at clothes at the moment, as I can hardly get my wardrobe doors shut! Saying that, I did get a lovely pair of M&S warm woolly-lined mittens, looked like new, for £1 in Debra the other day. The scouse guy in there is ever so nice and friendly.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Managed a trwl of the local CS today - mainly looking for books. Got DH 2 Bernard Cornwell's for £1.50 and I got a Michael Connolly (his new one :)) for £1.00.
Nice Debenhams tie for DH - brand new 49p
    Wallis top for me £3.99
I saw an Escada handbag for £15.99 & did have a fleeting debate with myself about whether to buy & put on eBuy but decided 'it wasn't the done thing' (don't know why??)
ChickenIf you use fine steel wool to get all the old polish off it won't harm the wood (digusting colour dust though!) it it really makes the job quite a lot easier - good luck.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Very happy today, as yesterday when out shopping I was looking at desk letter trays in Wilkinsons, but they would have cost me £9 -£15 depending on the design, and as I really didn't have that kind of money to spend on them I went home empty handed.

Popped into a couple of C/S on the way home today and picked up this 0-Huge-0.jpghttp://www.ryman.co.uk/0940891308/Osco-Letter-Tray-3-Tier-Mesh/Product for £2.50 (what's even better is that the trays slide out completely, which is just what I wanted)! :D
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
