As I'm in the middle of decluttering at the moment, I've been avoiding buying anything at all in the CS where I volunteer .................. however, I couldn't resist a pair of black school trousers for dgs1 (age 11) - as new, for £1, to replace the ones that he's worn through the knees :j.0

I was offered first refusal on a huge box of Lego
:D:o last weekend; it had been priced by a staff member at £10, but removed from sale by the manager as she felt that was too cheap. I ummed and ahhed a bit then told her that I felt stingy offering £20 as that was too cheap really- her eyes almost popped out of her head so I got myself a bargain. I've spent a couple of days sorting through it all and have 6kg of Lego, worth around £60 at ebay prices, but among that I have a £35 set and a £25 set, plus most of another two £35 sets.
I donated the 'I-can't-believe-it's-not-Lego' bricks back to the shop which they got a fiver for and have been promised first refusal on all the Lego that they get from now on. :j

I'm heading up to Belfast for the weekend so hoping to pick up some treasures in charity shops if anyone has any suggestions for there?
Today I popped into a charity shop in a town abut 30min from where I live, most of the stock was €1! I got a 1970s Coffee jar for €1 - the plastic lid is a bit grotty, will give it a good clean though, made in England - I love the simple retro styling of this era so was well chuffed! Also picked up a nice denim pinafore from Dunnes Stores, probably about 10 years old, not sure if it will fit, but it was a €1 - will pass onto a friend or eBay if not.
A month ago got a brand new River Island checked shirt for my brother for €6, and a Boden cord jacket for €3. A member of Westlife had recently donated a load of stuff there so there were some good mens shirts and leather jackets.0 -
hobbit fancier go to Dublin road its not far from the town center great oxfam shop there, but to be truthfull your better heading out a bit in any direction to where the peoplelive as our city center has mainly just big shops in it but loads of cs , cancer.hospice etc as you head towards the "roads" people live on hth.enjoy your shopping . where i live theres about 8-10 cs on 1 road but just the big commercial shops in townC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

I tried a different town and was still disappointed at the overpricing (imho).
There was an eighties style picture frame which was priced at £2.95, but I'd just bought a much better frame from the Range for £1.49!
From the same shop I bought two hardback cross stitch books for £1.95 ea.
One had beautiful sampler patterns, which I'm really into at the moment.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

someone suggested lisburn road - my friend lives on there, but i've only ever walked the bit where there appear to be no charity shops. that's good advice though. where abouts do you live that there is that many charity shops! thanks though, will avoid city centre so! :cool:0 -
I got a 1950's set of draughts for 50p.
I like retro and vintage things. They'll probably go on ebay soon, but I'll enjoy them for a while firstEarly retired - 18th December 2014
