In other words he is just treading water to get his dole every fortnight without the inconvenience of having to apply for any jobs that he has a cat in hells chance of getting which is totally digusting.

As I have written before he has been fulfilling his job seekers agreement which entitles hm to jsa. He has never been 'called in' or sanctioned.

So for any mischievous doubters out there he is doing everything that is required of him.

I hate to be cynical because I know how hard it can be to find work but I have to say that the terms of your posts lead me (and I dare say others) to wonder if your friend is right royally "taking the Michael".... or perhaps you are?:D

If you are on a benefit and you don't agree with what is asked of you, you have two choices, on principle refuse and lose money, or comply and get paid.
    Simple!!

Which is the whole point of the thread; what is deemed necessary to comply. Work Programme providers have no right to demand a copy of a clients CV to hold on file. Providers implying that they do have that right is misleading and possibly illegal, particularly if sanctions are threatened.

Might be worth contacting the police/serious fraud office if working links are misleading claimaints into providing information that enables working links to earn money.

If they are, as described, actually putting claimaints under duress of sanction (where no sanction can legally be imposed) in order to obtain the CV, which will be used to meet a target which results in payment, then that to me is fraud.

a4e have already been investigated for fraud - why not report any evidence to the same people that investigated a4e - the Serious Fraud office.

It can be done online - anonomously.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

At least I've got some. Unlike you.

But have you got anything constructive to say on the topic.....?

I make no attempt to hide my political beliefs and that is why it manifests itself in the tone of my posts. But this is not about me.

I'm trying to persuade him to register and in his own words explain his position. I've just spoken to him on the phone for an hour and he is surprised at the vitriol, bile, and downright unfounded assumptions being made.

I, of course, am used to them.

Doing everything that is required of him on the Jobseeker's Agreement and actually doing everything he can to find a job are two very different things.

Oh I see then, just the bare minimum!!

And he thinks that that sort of attitude will land him a job do you?

If he carries on like that, he will be unemployable, something he probably would have no objection to.

No wonder they bring out more rules and regs that cause lots of people unnecessary grief when we have claimants acting in this way!!

My observations on his 'attitude' are not relevant to the question.

Harsher conditionality is neoliberals blaming the sick, disabled and unemployed for their own failures and in the present climate some people are fooled by that sleight of hand trick. But that is my political point and again, not relevant.

I've yet to read any convincing argument that sanctions given because of this isolated refusal can be legitimately applied. In fact, quite the opposite.

What would happen later, I agree could be another matter.

You only have to fulfill the job seekers agreement.

Climbing Mount Everest is not required!
