You can only claim one pyt per household but occasionally I have known people on Pension credit to get 2. It depends what the DWP send to the suppliers.

Does anyone know what British gas class as income. My parents are pensioners so will it just be there state pension, private pensions etc or do they take interest on saving into account like they do for a pension credit claim. They are not entitled to pension credit but there combined income off pensions etc takes them just below the income criteria for warm front discount.

    thanks
  • Hello what happens if you were on benefits when you applied for the grant but before it is paid you stop claiming and go into work? Would you just ring and cancel the application or does it depend on what your status was on a certain date? I'm referring to the broader group claimants.

[2] Household income includes War Disablement Pension, Disablement Pension Allowance and Working Tax Credit. Household income excludes Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, and Child Tax Credit; and is before tax and National Insurance are deducted (gross income).

It does include income from savings interest/rental income/annuities/dividends etc.

You will get it anytime from Jan 1st 2014 up till March 31st 2014.

That applies to quarterly bills but not to prepayment keys which should get it by 31st December.

In my case I received a letter from DWP telling me I qualify automatically. That was followed a few days later by a letter from SSE confirming that I qualify and that £135 would be added to my key. I got that when I topped up my key and it's on my meter now.

Whether it has been communicated to your key depends on how you've topped up: If you always top up at the same place it should come through fast. But if you've topped up at different places it would be advisable to now top up at the same place a few times so your energy company will know which terminal to send the discount.

I was told i would take the letter to the shop and put it on myself and i go to the same shop every week to top up

just hope i get this asap
  • This scheme can only be added to the electricity account not your GAS. It will either be added as a credit on the quarterly bill, or you go to the paypoint for your key and it gets added there(letter & ID needed) or it will be taken off any debt you owe on your fixed deal account.
Only people on state pension/pension credit get it before December as they get it automatically. Anyone else gets it after that in the quarterly cycle after Christmas upto March 31st 2014. These are the facts. So if you are not in the former group - expect your letter after Christmas 2013.
