It's still somewhat ambiguous, Joyful.
Various reports state payments to 18,500 extra customers. Does that mean there were 18,500 customers eligble for the scheme, but not receiving payments?
Other reports state -It will have to pay out £2.5million to vulnerable households, starting this October. Around 18,500 households who currently receive a Warm Home Discount will be eligible for £135 each of this money.
Note the word, " currently."

There's only one definitive way to find out.
Ring customer services as soon as they open tomorrow morning, unfortunately.

I agree the word currently looks like it may be people already assessed but the figure also looks like another 18500 may get it. I am sure they have a lot more than that on the scheme. Hopefully one of the Eon reps can advise. I look forward to your answer.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

So do i, Joyful.
It's slightly odd they have applied my discount so early. It makes it more difficult to budget, as my winter bill didn't hit me until april, this year.
That's 6 months away, and invariably the coldest time of the year.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Hi Joyful
I've rung E.ON and as expected, they don't know the answer to my question. :rotfl:
What else d'ya expect?
They said the letter certainly reads as though there will be a second payment.
I'll get back to you when they get back to me with a definitive answer.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

As i understand it, it's good news for 18,500 applicants who applied for the WHD in the broader group and were previously declined, who will now receive the WHD, this winter.

When I rang BG earlier today - I asked when people would be paid their WHD and was told by CS agent that they will be paying everyone by end of December this year due to price rises etc. Whether it really will happen like that is anyone's guess, but thought I'd pass it on. And yes I do mean the broader group too.0

Just to let you know i have just chatted to BG and they will be paying out from Nov 23rd and everyone they say will have it by christmas.0

I have a query on the warm home discount scheme. I am currently with scottish power and in the 'broader group'
I applied earlier this year and received an email response from scottish power with a confirmation reference number.
The problem is at the bottom of this email it says if i change supplier then i will no longer meet the criteria for the warm home discount payment.
My current fixed deal is coming to an end soon and i would like to change to EDF.
I have contacted the warm home discount people directly on 08456039439 and been told that scottish power cant do this. They say that if i was a scottish power customer on the qualifying date (20th July) then they have a legal obligation to forward the payment even if i change supplier.
I have it in writing from scottish power that they wont pay. I feel as if its an unfair tie in by scottish power that i have to go onto a higher tariff with them until March / April 2014 just to receive this payment?
Has anyone else come across this or could offer advise please?
You should complain & get them to correct their mistake.0 -

The WHD people have given you the wrong information. The qualifying date is for those in the core group not the broader group. There is no set qualifying date for those in the broader group, it is up to the individual provider to set their own rules. I would contact EDF and ask when their cut off date is.0
