Hi I can only speak for Scottish Powers Warm Home scheme but isn't it strange that the £130 rebate for 2012/13 includes ' VAT' so the amount ACTUALLY credited is less VAT so about £122!!
Think about it:mad:
Its a rebate, the £130 isn't applied to reduce your total use bill that includes VAT it's applied as a £122 reduction to your total use bill that includes VAT!!
Therefore it's not a £130 rebate as advertised, its a £122 rebate as its IMPOSSIBLE to get £130 off your bill as they apply a net amount rebate to a gross amount.
Yes every little helps the Government civil servants to screw you just that little bit more even after the superior Social Tariffs were withdrawn on the Govts say so.
It's £135 for 2013/14 only its not because if you qualify a non existant 5% VAT reduction will be taken off!:(0 -
July normally. And I got the full £130 as it was put onto my key for my electric, so no I did not lose the 5% or not in the way the other poster mentioned.0

Have just done some searching and found info that states that although the figure shown as a rebate is minus the imaginary VAT (VAT on what!?) it's just a feature of energy companies billing systems and the VAT will then be rebated by being shown as a VAT ADJUSTMENT further down the bill thus restoring the amount to the full published £130:cool:
Only on my bill there is no 'VAT adjustment' so Scottish Power owe me £7.50 and I'm going to pursue this because if its happened to me then its likely happened to everybody else.
Addendum just checked my last micro bill online tariff blurred and tiny print and they may have given me the VAT back or not its set out in such an opaque way it's almost impossible to make sense of it. I'd like to hear Scottish Powers view on this, do they refund the VAT after taking it off or not!? And how would one know?0 -

Hi all
I can confirm in response to this that when the Warm Home Discount payment is applied to an account it shows as a credit of £123.81 and when the account is next billed a VAT reduction of £6.19 is applied which then equates to the agreed value of £130.
Customers who operate a Prepayment Key meter are given £130 of available credit as the tariff on the meter includes the VAT element of the Warm Home Discount.
The balance on any customer account will be reduced by £130 but it will show as £123.81 Energy Adjustment and £6.19 Vat Adjustment.
All suppliers follow the same rules that are set out by Ofgem.
Hope this helps. David“Official Company Representative

Thanks David. I should add though that Scottish Powers telephone staff do not seem aware or are unable to explain that the £130 is paid in full as I spoke to two staff who both told me it is £123.81 you get and that's it.
Also my point about the online Bills being very difficult to read are worth taking back to your employer IMO. They ARE fuzzy and they are in VERY tiny print which is the opposite of clear and easy to read isn't it?
Thanks!
Also EVERYONE who was eligible got the discount from Scottish Power in 2012/13 so why is everyone so worried about getting in now when you have until about next February? to register?!:)0 -

People should not have to guess when it opens or have to keep checking.
It should not be run this way & people should not be at the mercy of the whims of private companies operating different policies.0 -

You should be able to set your browser to increase the text size, or download the bill as a PDF and increase the size that way? If you need any specific help with that, please contact us by e-mail from our profile.
