A luxury cottage on the Isle of Skye in November.
Log fires, lots of wine and not many people, heaven

    We went to Skye too!

To be precise, we started at our favourite Lake District hotel, which is our luxury treat place. Stayed there for five nights. Then we had two nights on the Isle of Skye and then a week in an apartment on the shore of Loch Ness.

Fab, fab time. :D As a surprise for my hubby (which he loved, or not hehe) I ordered one of these for our rear windscreen:

We drove up to our honeymoon from the south of England and got beeped and waved at the whole way up the M6. :rotfl:

For our first anniversary we went to the Orkney Islands for a fortnight. On the day of our anniversary, at the exact time we had got married a year before, a pod of killer whales appeared and swam past the cliff we were sitting on!! To put it in context, it's pretty rare to spot orcas as far south as Orkney - most locals we met had never seen one. That was such an amazing moment. Not sure we'll be able to top it for our second anniversary this June.

You are obviously very fortunate to be able to take four weeks off at one go.:)

People must do as they see fit, obviously. It's only my opinion and it happens to differ from yours.:)

Meh, I got special dispensation from one of the directors and only had 4 days hols left for the rest of the year, so I had to work through xmas etc. Not great fun, but worth it.

Naturally everyone's entitled to their opinion, I just find quite often that people are down on expensive weddings / honeymoons based on quite a dated view of where couples are in their lives when they get married. These days, because more couples pay for the wedding themselves, they're financially stable beforehand and, almost by definition, don't need the money for anything better by the time they get round to marrying.
  • We did Prague and Budapest. Loved every second of it! (And don't regret a penny)

Scotland, touring in our old car. Maximum price paid for B&B was £1 per night (well it was over 40 years ago). We went for a fortnight but it rained the whole time (August) and we came home after 10 days!

We had an amazing time in Las Vegas and San Francisco. Las Vegas probably not so good for the kiddies but San Francisco absolutely - we loved it and can't wait to take our 2 back!
    Enjoy!

We had a weekend away in Telford! :D OK it doesn't sound very exciting but we visited the Ironbridge Gorge and surrounding museums. We stayed in a spa hotel and had a bit of pampering too. Basically we just wanted a few days away from the kids and as we had been together for over 10 years we didn't feel the need to go all out, just like our wedding which was a very small and quiet affair.

    Well I am quite dated;).

I was 42 with two children when I married for the second time (that was the weekend in Chester;)). We had been together for 10 years (and still are).
